[NYT] Apple accused of ignoring labor abuses that can kill - Page 4

I have a Nokia Phone (X6) . Do you guys know where it was made ? China ? No . Made in Finland .
I have it since a year and the screen is not even scratched .
My last Nokia Phone lasted 4 years .
I had 1 Apple product . An ipod that died 3 weeks after purchase .
I Find Apple over hyped , and their working labors disgusting . They pay soo little for such over hyped , over priced gimmick they are making .

Also if you read the entire article, BSA stated that certain companies like H.P. does not keep the supplier profit margin so low that they have to create a worse work environment in order to turn a profit for the Apple contract.

Yep, because Apple should be in the business of NOT making a profit... rolleyes.gif

You guys that are oh-so-outraged about the poor Chinese workers and their terrible working conditions, what are you doing about it? Besides buying millions of iPads, iPhones, and iPods???

It's not the fact that apple is solely responsible for pioneering and perpetuating the lack of regulation, corruption, and disregard for human rights in China's manufacturing industry, but the fact that they have acknowledged many of these problems through hundreds of audits and have not put any real pressure in their major suppliers. The article clearly states that after 5 years of this knowledge (publicly at least) and since becoming one of the most profitable companies in the world, they've done nothing to change this problem, which could be done very easily by a wave of the Apple wand, but of course, would not look as nice to the shareholders.

(Another quality article from the Times.)

And this is why the average consumer and OCN poster shouldn't be trusted. Because they have ONE product out of BILLIONS not work well for them, and immediately write the company off as terrible because their device failed and it was made in China. Meanwhile they hype another product up just because it lasted them 4 years and they have an unscratched screen. Excellent research, and very well presented rational and unbiased argument for why Apple is such a horrendous company, I'm sure all their products they make fail after three weeks, that's why they've been in business for how many decades now...? rolleyes.gif

Why should they? The government of the country these workers live in is far more cruel to them than Apple is. They allow this sort of stuff to go on so of course companies looking to maximize profit will take advantage. I don't see the issue anyway. The workers don't like the work conditions they don't have to work there and yet they apply by the thousands....

Apple... a small company that became large due to other companies not being creative enough. Truth be told, Apple took advantage of the laziness of other companies while those companies slept Apple crept in and took ideas and made them, well not better but more organized and convenient. Labor in China is not a bad thing at all... but if they can not keep the people happy and maintain a comfortable working environment then they need to stop.... NOW. Reason why Apple jobs are not in the US is due to the US being a lot more strict when it comes to mass production. No average joe can just walk into the factory and apply ... noooo you need a degree and prior experience for it to be more legitimate. In China... this does not exist. The China population is estimated in the Billions... so who needs jobs more than them? Weird how I just put that I know.

There is another thing that I never understood... if apple products or devices are so good and easy to use... why is it that there is an INSANELY amount of people in the apple store asking 1 million questions about something that supposedly a toddler can pick up and master in 5 minutes? Apple brainwashed so many people... it really is sad that most don't see that Apple is about marketing only... the 4S with iOS 5 or what ever added something that my Photon 4g could do out of the box... wooooooooooooooooooooooooow -_-. Can't even compare my device without someone saying that Apple is the reason it exists.. I just think it was a matter of time.thumb.gif

Many companies utlitize cheap Asian labor.
Not all of those companies are doing well financially.
Apple, as the world's most profitable company, should have been the first one to try to correct this.

THAT is the crux of the issue.
