It's on sale a lot and I've bought two so far. Both of them squeal like pigs and on one, the clip on the 24-pin power plug is mis-sized and doesn't fit onto the motherboard (I tried several mobos). I had to scrap it away to be able to seat the 24-pin firmly without a gap. Google CX430 squeal and there are A LOT of similar complaints.
Maybe I just got unlucky twice...
I'm buying this one later today instead:

I've used 3 of these PSU's so far in budget builds. Two of them worked just fine but the other squealed insanely loud. Luck of the draw I guess...

I've never RMA'ed anything before... if I cut out the UPC and mailed in the rebate already, can I still RMA? Though, given the low price of the PSU, I don't think the shipping cost and the chance of getting another whiny one is worth it for me. frown.gif I just hope my both my rebates come. I'm gonna try some other PSU's now...

Yes, you can RMA without the UPC, you just can't return it, but yea, the cost of shipping almost is not worth it.
Corsair is good about their rebates.

The whine you're referring to is termed "coil whine", I believe. Had the same problem a while back. I RMA'd, was sent a V2 in return. It still whines a bit but not really as loud. I think it might be a Corsair thing, because I notice it with my AX-850 as well. It's very faint and you have to be within about a metre to hear it, but when your computer is off but the PSU is still on I can hear it. Apparently you can do something about it, but it involves opening the unit and clear nail polish. I'll try to find the thread on it...

I've have two of these and both of them squeal and make odd noises occasionally even when the PC is off. I don't really care though because it's going in my HTPC. Still wating on the rebate for the first one which I ordered months ago. I moved a few days before the rebate arrived and was told I would have to wait another 2 or so months to get the rebate sent to new address. mad.gif

Is there any way to fix the coil whine? I know it would void the warranty but the price of this PSU is so low that I wouldn't care.

Probably the same way you do on video cards, nail polish or silicone on the squealing caps.

Now exactly which ones, I have no idea.

This is what I was told. I'm sure there's info somewhere (you could also ask someone like Phaedrus2129, I'm pretty sure he alerted me to the fix). I can't find the thread where he gave me the heads up on the CX430's coil whine, though.
