Issue with motherboard/cooler/ram compability!

Hey guys,

Im very very new to this so please go easy on me tonguesmiley.gif
I just completed my first rig 2 days ago!
I got the crosshair v formula for my fx-8150, and I also bought 2x4GB of the Corsair Vengeance ( a bit taller than I expected )
I'm using the CPU's stock cooler for now, I'm yet to change it.
I recently bought the Thermaltake Bigwater 760is but it doesn't quite fit my Cooler Master HAF X front docks so I decided to change the cooling system!
Here where it gets hard for me, I'm thinking about one of these 2:

cooler master v8
cooler master v6gt

I know, aircooling! Still, I think I'll start with that, at least for now!
My problem is:

will I be able to fit my corsair vengeance on the crosshair v formula under any of these two coolers?

Any ideas or sugestions of other coolers? (water or air)
Thank you.

They will fit but you might not be able to mount fans on both sides of the cooler. You might be forced to have a fan on one side pulling air through the cooler. The ram will be in the way on the right side for a 120mm fan. I have a megashadow and have no room for 2 fans for push pull.

Thank you! thumb.gif
After reading that I realize I've gotta think a bit more about my options, choose a different one perhaps! tongue.gif
I see megashadow does not come with fans, can you add them to it?

The ram heatsinks are not terribly effective. If you need to remove them its typically possible through a variety of methods. Our rigs have one thing in common and that is the Corsair vengeance. It definately has tall heat sinks and can cause issues with compatibility. I was considering removing the heatsinks because of the NH-D14 but raising the fan worked. You can simply cut off the top fins just be very careful not to damage your memory in the process. I have read where people have used good snips saws ect .. might do some research and see if there is a method you would feel comfortable with. I am not familiar with that motherboard or the compatability of those coolers. So I cannot comment specifically on what to recommend but here is a picture of my NH-D14 mounted on a Micro ATX board the Asus Gene3/gen3.

Great! biggrin.gif
I wanted to use that cooler but I never did 'cause of my rams, but if you say that raising the fan works fine, I might buy that Noctua after all! thumb.gif
Thanks a lot!

Noctua had a very handy compatability chart that you may find useful. Check there website. My ram was freshly released C7 so I had to just use the other Corsair vengeance as a reference. Great heatsink by the way running 5ghz on this 2500k and folding at 100% barely breaks 60c. Main reason you may want to check compatability is that if the ram slots are to close or the pcie then the cooler won't work. Had to tape the clips for the fans because one sits against the video card the other clears by a mm or 2. Here is a link to the chart.
