Universal waterblock on GTX 580, do i need additional cooling?

Hey everyone, I have a Universal waterblock on my EVGA GTX 580, and I have a moderate OC to the card,
right now the highest i've seen the card reach is 50°c, and right now, its just the bare card with the water block
on the GPU, and a small fan blowing towards the card.

i'm concerneced that if the GPU is only at 50°, but possibly some of the other parts of the card could be in the red zone for temps?

I was wondering if I should toss a few bucks in for some heatsinks for the memory ( some of the memory things are partially blocked by the water block ) or possibly one of those PCI slot fans
to blow up on the card?

Ideas, tips, suggestions, etc all welcome.

the short answer is YES. I wouldnt even run it with only a universal block on it. the Vreg's are bound to burn up with any kind of OCing.

I dont think those small little stick on heatsinks would be sufficient to cool the voltage regulation stuff either. You best bet is to leave the aluminum stiffiner/heatsink on from the reference cooler and just run without the factory vapor chamber, instead the uni block.

You need to cool the VRMs and memory with heatsinks.

Also with that in mind, just heaksinks alone wont do. You need so air cooling to help. Side fan or internal mounted HDD fan. To keep those temps down.

Cool. I have a small 50mm fan that is rigged to blow directly across the card. But unfortunately, the block will not fit without nodding the metal plate, but if I mod the plate, might as well mod the plastic cover as well so that the card is nice and clean looking. And could still use the stock cooling fan.

Edit: the only problem i have is that my universal block, is *fail* not universal, and requires zip ties to keep it, and all my power tools are an hour and a half away, but i'll see if i can come up with something

You may be able to get by with just a fan directed at the memory, but I would highly suggest at least VREG to put a passive sink on them.
