[FUD] iPad is dangerous: Harvard study says it is not ergonomic - Page 5

The only solution here is to not use your tablet 8 hours a day every day.

Yes, I do have an iPad and I also have a Playbook. I am thinking about getting a Xoom as well.
If they were not singling it out, they would have mentioned that statement FIRST instead of leaving it until the very end AFTER they riled up everyone. I am not having any sort of emotional tirade BTW, merely calling it as I see it and expressing my disgust in OCN's continued allowance of posts obviously trolling for responses. I called your claim that no one was singling out Apple dense, because that is exactly what it is. I could actually think of more accurate terms for it, but I rather not express them.

Umm...You do realize speaking out of disgust is an emotional response right?

With all your ranting I take it YOU didn't read the original report either - how ironic. They only reviewed 2 tablets: the iPad2 and the hugely unsuccessful Motorola Xoom. Which product would you reference if you were writing an article? The one that sold 11 million units in Q3 last year or the failure that only shipped 100,000? Try to be neutral for a minute and use some common sense. How can you be mad at OCN for allowing a thread with cited sources from a reputable tech website? I didn't say Apple wasn't being singled out - I said it's standard practice to address the front-runner. You may disagree but it's nothing "dense" about it.

The LA Times and NY Daily News ran the article but you're mad at Fudzilla for quoting 2 of the biggest newspapers in country? Had you actually taken the time to read the article you would have known that the lead researcher from Harvard spoke directly to LA Times with his findings - which is why Fudzilla and everyone else quotes their verion of the story. YOU are the one spreading misinformation. You keep blasting Fudzilla and OCN but you didn't even bother to read the paper yourself. You complain about trolling but you keep calling people names every chance you get.

You're doing the exact thing you're accusing everyone else of doing.

Again, Fudzilla wasn't doing the actual reporting - they were posting the story. Trust me, if I was being emotional, you would know. I am a tad annoyed, but still very logical and collected.

The source for this is listed as FUD and I am annoyed because despite not being news worthy, it is still somehow still not locked. I am annoyed by all the idiots that continue to derail thread after thread with their mindless banter. This thread is about FUD so I called out FUD. If the article linked by thread to LA Times, I would call them sensationalized crap as well. Big newspaper does not equate to real journalism. A good title would have been "Studies shown that tablet design is not ergonomic"

I am hardly trolling. I pointed out that the article should have made a much clearer and sooner distinction that this applies for ALL tablets and making sure following posters would get that point. Unfortunately the effort was for naught. Also, I am curious, just exactly what false information am I spreading newbie forum member?

The source for this is listed as FUD and I am annoyed because despite not being news worthy, it is still somehow still not locked. I am annoyed by all the idiots that continue to derail thread after thread with their mindless banter. This thread is about FUD so I called out FUD.

FUD was Microsoft telling people the TCO of Linux was higher than Windows with nothing to substantiate that claim. FUD was SCO scaring everyone with their empty Linux IP threats. The Harvard team did some research in ergonomics and decided to share their findings with the LA Times, who wrote up an article which was later re-posted by Fudzilla. The article is 100% accurate - it just focuses on the big name because nobody owns the other tablet used in the study. Gotta sell papers right?

There is no "if" - the article is, in fact, from the LA Times. Regardless of what you would like the title to be the LA Times were the ones who spoke directly to Harvard's lead author of the study and because of that websites just re-posted their story.

I agree wholeheartedly with that point but that's an issue to take up with the LA Times - not Fudzilla. But as I previously stated, it's normal reporting practices to headline your paper with the biggest name - so why be so bend out of shape about it? In regards to your efforts.. How can you make sure someone gets a point when you read neither the original case study or the LA Times article that started the news-wave?

Now you're reaching LOL.. I've been reading this website for at least 5 years - I just recently started posting. I also still read Phoronix and Slashdot - even though I haven't posted in well over a year. I even read overclocker's club and I've never made a single post there. I tend to read at least 10 threads for every one I comment on. You know some of us actually enjoy reading more than hearing ourselves speak (which is probably why you keep trying to enlighten people on a story and research paper you didn't even read...)

Just like you said being a big newspaper doesn't equate to real journalism having a high post-count doesn't equate to wisdom.

So you agree they are singling Apple out then. If they were not, they would have presented a much more unbiased title.

Because I knew exactly what sort of posters this type of title brings to the thread.

Just like you said being a big newspaper doesn't equate to real journalism having a high post-count doesn't equate to wisdom.

Put your money where your mouth is, then lurker. Where did I provide said misinformation. Please show it to me. rolleyes.gif

This is probably going to be the last time I respond to you, since I can easily see that this is not going anywhere. Have a good day though.

PS Where did I mention a high post count or wisdom? I have mentioned neither. I am curious where a new forum member is finding "misinformation" from my posts since old members don't.
