AMD FX wins on integer operation, which is things like compression, encoding, encrypting, etc.

AMD FX loses when it comes to floating point operation, which is things like folding, BOINC, computation, etc.

Wait, so the FX 8150, 8C/3.6GHz is *on par* with a 3.4GHz 4C CPU in super threaded workloads at best? Yeeeeeeeahhh, given the TDP difference, I'd say that's slaughter tongue.gif

What? No...

The 8C BD is a tad faster than the 2600k at best, in Handbrake x264 encoding and 7zip compression.

Even Ivy Bridge is going to leave Bulldozer an unwanted stepchild, then those i5 quad core holders will be laughing at your Bulldozer. biggrin.gif

Can't OC that power hungry 8150 to 5Ghz on air, so it's not really faster and consumes a lot more power. Haswell will consume less power than even IB, which might mean it'll be even easier to OC.

Actually I'm kind of wondering about Haswell, because I believe it's going to be better than Ivy Bridge for OCing, I think Ivy Bridge was more designed for less power, that's why they changed the Transistors to Tri-Gate or however you spell it, the problem is it's a hot chip and may not OC well...

We will have to wait and see when more details leak, but I'm rather excited, indeed Haswell is the CPU I'm dying to get my hands on, for multiple reasons. biggrin.gif

(I'm going to skip Sandy & Ivy for Haswell.)
