Your current GPU is already affecting your CPU's PPD, if you can tolerate the increased heat you should switch your 460 over to the advmethods WUs. Tell me what client you are using for the GPU and I'll tell you how to set them up.

i just turn off my gpu v6 client and my cpu ppd increase to 22k right know..can v6 client using the advenmethod setting..?? how to set it up..before this i got pretty nice ppd with BA8 wu but now i can only fold on smp..largest wu i usually fold is 6099 and 6097 which give 12k points and 16 hour folding time..

Right click on they GPU folding icon in the systray, select configure, go to the advanced tab and in the advanced client parameters field put in "-advmethods" without the quotation marks. When you DL your next GPU WU after you finish your current one you should be getting the p7620, p7621, or p7622 WUs. They produce more heat and are more prone to show an unstable OC on your GPU, but they use much much less CPU time thereby increasing your CPU PPD.

Guess I just got a golden 2500k. Folding no issues at all at 5ghz. My only issues have been trying to figure out all the tweaks. Right now I still havent figured out how to run both my video card and my processor effectively. Seems my video card wants to use to much processor and result is a very slight overall gain on ppd using both. Not really enough to justify using both. Im even using offset overclock peak voltage about 1.45.

The ppd of new setting "-advmethods" almost the same ppd running the non -advmethods project..with the increase of heat, i better stick to normal wu for gpu 3..

There's really not much you can do about to get the 6950 to use less CPU, they use about one core and 400MB as things are today.

You better not, check teh CPU usage of FahCore_15.exe in the task manager, it should be 0-1% as compared to 0-5% with the standard ones, more CPU for SMP=more PPD. However if your card is to close to your comfort zone, then I wouldn't use -advmethods.

Yea I need to figure out how I can drop my 2500k to 3 cores when folding to leave the 4th for gpu folding. I think then maybe I would see a decent jump from using both to fold. Doesnt seem to be a easy way other than modding files and such. Ran it all night both folding cpu never broke 60 and the video card never broke 55

I find that my 460 consumes on average .2% of my CPU cycles and has little to no effect on my CPU or GPU folding performance. You only really need to disable a core when you are folding on AMD cards. What are your settings for the GPU and CPU. make sure the CPU is on idle priority not low or it could lock the GPU out a bit
