Crossfire 6870 vs GTX 580/GTX 780?

Thread Starter
I was wondering if I should get a second 6870 to crossfire or if I should get a GTX 580. I like to play games such as BF3, and I do folding too. Another option is to wait until the GTX 780 comes out. And does anybody have information on Kepler's release date? Thanks in advance.

If you can find another 6870 for a good price I say go for it and it should out perform or be equal to a GTX 580. Supposedly in 2 months or so the new NVIDIA cards should be released.

Crossfire 6870 will have much more microstutter, so I would not recommend it.

IMO, you should go for a single card if possible (either 7970 or GTX 580, depending on which side you prefer). If you want to do multi-GPU, I find SLI to be preferable to Crossfire due to fewer issues with microstutter/drivers.

This graph pretty much says it all:

I'd say go for the other 6870, it'll much outperform a 580 as my crossfire 6790s have 580 performance.
