Foxconn and Apple? Well Apple is rich, but their stocks may not be so nice if this is what they think is suitable. I do not approve of this. mad.gif

9% unemployment. and how many of those unemployed opened their minds to lower end jobs. you cant just not work, i bet you i can go out tomorrow and have a job by monday(not that i dont already have one, mind you).

we've got tons of kids in colledge trying to get their degree. and what are they going for?

1: "oh im gettting my masters in philosophy"
2: "thats cool, what are you going to do?"
1: "i want to be a college professor"

STUPID
plain and simple.

you cant spend thousands of dollars on something that is completely impractical. what, do you plan on taking over the department of the school you just graduated from.

someone smack their guidance counselor up side the head. and do a little research on the field you plan to enter before you pay for it.

my father has designed and built houses for over 30 years, and when the economy took a dump, what did he do? he went and put in some applications for jobs that would roughly relate to his line of work. given home depot isnt a great job, but they are more than willing to hire someone with little to no experience. everyone pulling the occupy this, and occupy that are pathetic. stop being picky and take what you can get. elections are around the corner, american voters decided they wanted someone with no political experience whatsoever to run this country and fix it, smart. maybe this time around theyll pay attention.

This sort of stuff isn't exclusive to Apple, and will continue to run rampant until something major happens in China. Their level of control, and lack of regulation on this facet is mind boggling. Until companies either deem these work conditions too much and decide they'd rather have their cost go up on products, or until someone steps in and goes to war with China, it will continue. Not sure what else to say without getting myself infracted.

And for those of you saying "they don't have a choice!" ooooh yes they do. The job market is looking much better in China right now than it is in the US.

They have choices for sure, but not in the same sense as how we view choices. Sure they can quit and find another job, but they will then have to stop sending money back home to feed their families for at least a few times to buy clothes, transportation fare, and some sort of lodgings while they apply for another factory. In the meantime, someone else in their family will have to work three times harder to pick up the slack so the family members who need caring will not starve. So yes, while they do have choices, the burdens and consequences that they bear are much different than many of ours. Families are willing to work their entire life force away to send their only children to relatives overseas and then commit suicide so no one will be forced to care or worry about them. They do have choices and when the death benefits outweighed their income, some even chose to die. Honestly, the consequences of companies leaving if expenses are increased, my fear is that even more will die from sickness, malnutrition, and starvation.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that they're doing it to get their families a bigger piece of the pie. I could, for instance, get myself a bigger piece of pie by doing IT work in Afghanistan... exposing myself to strenuous and dangerous conditions. Would I complain about it or kill myself if it made me unhappy? No. I would say screw it and go home

One problem with that. This IS their home, they don't have some magical spoiled world to "go home to" if they don't like it.

just sayin... all the apple haters on here, look inside your cases... alot of those parts were made in places where workers are underpaid, and in similar working conditions...
