Idle temps have gone up

I recently bought a Zalman cnps 9900nt and have it installed on my i5 2500k. When I first installed it I had Idle temps of about 26-28c. It's been about a week now and from what I've heard, the temps should go DOWN after the break in period. I have arctic silver 5 applied to the heatsink and my idle temps have gone up to 32-34c. Another thing to note is that once the cooler was installed I overclocked to a 46x multiplier, which brings me to about 4739 MHZ with a 103MHZ bus speed. But Even with that overclocking it idled around 28c. Why has it gone up over the course of a week?

It might just be a coincidence, and ambient temperatures may have raised as well, thus causing your idles to increase. I wouldn't worry about it, as those are fairly respectable idle temperatures given that cooler.

It's not that I'm worried they are too high. It's just that I know after a week or so the thermal paste should "break in" and I should see a drop in temperature not a rise. The ambient temperature of the room has seen an average of about 5 degrees Fahrenheit higher than normal. I'll continue to monitor it and see if it get's worse. I don't think it will but I was curious to see what someone else thought.

I'd say its ambient temps.. too early for dust.. is the case in the same spot as first tested?

Maybe its restricted air flow if you moved it?

"Cure time" is like unicorns; you gotta believe it exists.

My temps always go up a little bit a few weeks after install.

Yah the case hasn't moved. I've messed around with the cables for better management. If anything the airflow should be a bit better and I've cleaned the dust filter on the front of the case.

It will drive you nuts man lol.. Dont worry about it unless it pushes you to a temp you dont like under load.
