FX-8120 vs i5 2500k Benches

Thread Starter
So I finally got an i5 2500k cpu. Planning on doing some apples to apples benching at 4.5 ghz for both cpus. The only thing that will change from the BD setup are the mobo and cpu. Everything else will be the exact same in order to keep as much fairness as possible. What benches would you guys like to see?

Which mobo chipsets are you using? Just curious.

In the red corner we have the Asrock 990FX Fatal1ty Professional. In the blue corner we have the Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3. Couldn't afford the Fatal1ty version of that board.

Great thread! Can't wait to see what you come up with. Subbed.

Will we see any gaming fps results? If so which games?

Im starting to seriously consider going with a 2500k really soon. Im just so indecisive, I look at BD benchmarks and see they arent horrible, and I know my 1100t does really good. I think its from wanting a new cpu to play with and going BD is $250 for just a sidestep since i just game or browse the internet. Going up in gpu power would be a lot more than I would want to spend.

Whatever you do please get all parts new and list prices and total. I'd like to see price / performance.

Cinebench is one I'd like to see as I do image rendering similar to cinebench with 3ds Max. If someone know a better Image renderer benchmark more closely to 3ds max texture baking that he can do please post it.

The FX 8120 will beat a i5-2500K slightly (maybe 1pt at most) in Cinebench if they are clocked the same, but a i7-2600K will beat an FX 8120.

im not arguing with you but a 2500k is like 7-10% faster than a fx-8150 on paper. i would think it would be more than 1 point for a 8120.
