I would hope so since the i7-2600K is about $120 more. But the i5 2500k is even $30 more, so it should be better than the 8120 slightly and if its not then I guess AMD wins this battle.

I would like to see the results of that also - even a bus increase with dropping the multiplier while still at 4200 - maybe a 240 FSB with a 17.5 multiplier??

On the note of cpu-nb freq and HT Link, i was OC at 3.4Ghz@1.362v and since it was stable i was told to upped the cpu-nb freq, so i upped it to 2800mhz@1.275v and when i saved it to BIOS then restarted my pc didnt reboot, So i had to turn it off, then turn it back on and when it loaded, it said Overclock failed. So i went in the BIOSand upped the cpu-nb volts to 1.3v and then it booted.. was that what my prob was it needed more voltage? also is 1.3v too high for 2.8ghz...
And after i got to windows and loaded prime95, Coretemp, and Cpu-Z, i noticed in Cpu-Z it shows my HT Link is now 1600mhz.. it use to be at 2000mhz i do believe before i upped my Cpu-nb freq.. why is this?

Do you have any games in mind? So far this is the list (all synthetic):

Cinebench

Haven't received any other requests yet

Haha wow.. I guess I was way wrong?. .I thought you'd beat me for sure clock for clock with that thing.. but looks like my score is slightly higher. I think you can OC your NB speed slightly to get a little bit better results. Assuming it isn't OC'ed already.

haha yeah dude! so you have an even better advantage over an 8120 i'd say. and no the nb isn't oc'd.

I used to have an 8150, lowest speed I benched it on was 4464mhz, wanna try it out for the other dude to see? I sold mine after a week with it, I bought it at launch so things have gotten SLIGHTLY (2% better?) Although the price of the 2500k is $179.99 at microcenter, and frys will price match, thats why Im thinking about picking one up tomorrow wink.gif

4464mhz 8150, looks like my nb is stock but the memory is at 18xx mhz

337

4899mhz, nb overclocked to 25xx mhz which was the most I could get at the time

337

and my 1100t that im still using at 4244mhz

yup biggrin.gif Actually thats where I got the 8150 from too since everyone else was sold out durring launch

I think Im gonna pick up a 2500k and asus maximum iv gene-z tomorrow at frys if they pricematch microcenter, which they should, the web page shows like 10 available and their pricematch program says a local or online retailer. I have matched plenty from newegg and tigerdirect at frys but first attempt with microcenter tomorrow.

--edit thats funny Im in hacienda heights area too
