It really depends on what this build is used for. Maybe OP can give more info?

As for the SSD go for the regular Vertex 3, and for the case why do you have the nVidia one? I'd just go with the regluar.. especially seeing as you have a AMD card
Or if you have $50 to spare go for the Crucial M4! thumb.gif
You'll also want a 16GB kit, so you can run Quad Channel (increased performance overall?) Again, that's only another $40 or so..
Other then that it looks great!
Oh and get a H100 for a bit more if you can get it, it's a fair bit better and only costs like $30 more..
Yes i know! It kills my wallet too! Being in Tasmania you'd think would be worse.. But there's actually a good local PC shop. Except he doesn't stock Coolermaster stuff (my personal favorite)

I can pick it up from PC Case Gear, but if there were to be a significantly cheaper shop in NSW (or Tasmania) then the shipping would also need to be cheaper.

I've heard of many problems with the Vertex 3, but I haven't heard anything bad of the Agility + it is cheaper + faster. The Crucial M4 is slower tongue.gif. Ahh, the case. Idk I just like the look of it. I don't really buy into the AMD vs Nvidia debate, so I don't mind lol.

If I find I need more RAM I'll pick up the other 8gb, but I heard that quad channel was just a marketing ploy and it is just 2x dual channel. The H100 doesn't fit in my case unfortunately.

Sorry, I didn't explain this in the first post. I am planning on doing video editing (as well as games devil.gif ). Plus...as someone said...e-peen biggrin.gif

But i smell that this is a gaming rig? If so the OP would be better off with a 2500k on water (or high end air)
EDIT: For the record, some places have slightly cheaper prices on certain things.. But i just find it easier to get it all from there, i know that i'm getting a good price too!
Well except for crossfire bridges.. They're a rip off! rolleyes.gif

Don't Xfire bridges come with the GFX card? rolleyes.giftongue.gif

Very solid build mate. I have 2 of those SSDs in RAID 0 and they are extremely quick. Being in Sydney I have a few stores that I purchase my gear from and I have purchased from PC CASE GEAR in the past but not sure if they will do cheaper shipping for ya. I have noticed over the years of dealing with them that their shipping is getting more and more expensive.

To be honest, the 3930k won't outpreform the 2600k in gaming needs. It will be better in only video rendering. Also, for that budget, I'm sure you can fit a 7xxx gen amd card in. if you wait a bit, the 7950's will be out and that would be a big boost to your performance. otherwise, good luck! and post pics!thumb.gif

Those new 7970s are incredibly expensive ($750+). I could get two 6970's and have $10 left over...=/. I'm not going to wait for the 7950's, as I suspect they will also be very expensive.

Yeah I'm doing video rendering.

Thanks smile.gif.

Your doing video rendering and as its a x79 platform i would get another 8GB RAM kit the same you have. Or change it for a 16GB RAM kit. It doesnt have to be branded as quad channel ram, thats the gimmic. By using 4 x 4GB sticks of the same speed and timmings you will be able to utilise quad channel and its a nice performance gain of dual channal, you will notice it. It will be perfect for your needs. smile.gif

Nope, theres one store that comes to mind. But he doesn't have as much range as PCCG. (Hence why i buy from them)

Are you sure the H100 wont fit in the top 2x 120mm fan slots?

Tbh you're spending so much now i'd just go with Quad channel and 16GB. Comes in handy for photo editing!

The Crucial M4 is better quality and will last longer! wink.gif

Seeing as you're in Melbourne why not go and pick it up? rolleyes.gif
