I used black electrical tape and covered half the port leaving the eye and some of the LED opened/ visible. v32 is good but v61 is an improvement.

You weren't wrong about the v61 firmware. Much better tracking. I have done the tape fix as shown on page 6.

WILL BE A NEW FIRMWARE AND DRIVER ?

I doubt it and to be honest they did much effort to please everyone already.

Much different situation than most of you expect.

I managed to get a permanent LOD reduction by opening up the mouse and sanding off the light prism to around the level of the base of the lens. Using this technique, the LOD is between 1 and 2 CDs using firmware v61.

Hi all, first post here, I'd been following this thread for a while hoping for a new firmware to take care of v61s crazy high LOD. However after trying bkraptors technique and the tape trick before that I finally managed to get the LOD to be perfect on my rocketfish pad (control side).

I managed to do this by opening the mouse, and gently bending back the plastic shroud that holds the LED in place a couple degrees, lessening the amount of light the sensor receives. I'd recommend leaving the screws out of the mouse (it holds together fine without them) as you may need to adjust it a couple times to get it just right. Don't worry if you bend too high, and it stops tracking you can just bend it right back down.

Now this thing is as accurate and has the same great LOD as my old Zowie EC1, which was my favorite mouse until the switches gave out.

Just got one of these, rather tiny, no way I'm clawing this. If I get properly accustomed to the grip I'll likely file down the edge at the bottom of the thumb buttons. Seems pretty nice so far, it passed the "play games for several hours without making my hard hurt test". By the way, I can't figure out hot to set 4000 dpi, or see it mentioned anywhere in the drivers now that I've updated to 61. Wasn't planning on using it, just odd.

I really don't see why they made the Recon also this tiny. I can barely imagine using a mouse that small. When I first saw it I thought they were using a wide wheel, but nope, really tiny mouse.

The driver does not report the new values with V61, so it will still show 800, 1800, 3200 DPI when it is acutally runing 800, 1600, 4000.

Did this trick reduce your max perfect speed ?
Did this trick affect your tracking on light coloured surfaces ?

Ah, thank you.

By the way, I can't help but get the impression the sensor and the hole for it don't line up exactly as they intended.
