will this increase bandwidth sharing files with my server?

If i have a switch with open ports would installing multiple NIC's in the server and connecting multiple Ethernet connections from the switch to the server increase transfer speeds?

Assuming your outgoing/incoming bandwidth from the ISP isn't already capped. Or is this private network server?

Each ethernet assuming its CAT5e can do 100-1000Mbps. You'd need to bridge the connections (I think that's the term) or run separate programs on each one. There would also need to be an equal amount of bandwidth going out of the switch as well.

Well in my case i am strictly talking about sharing info just on my network locally not over the internet so there shouldn't be a cap right?

And its for a render farm and usually all clients are pulling data from the server so i figured more connections would handle the traffic better

Theoretically no, it depends on the switch, cabling used, port limits, etc.

How much bandwidth do the clients need? I can't imagine them needing a ton, but I've never dealt with a render farm.

Fault Tolerance
Uses one or more secondary adapters to take over for the primary adapter should the first adapter, its cabling or the link partner fail. Designed to ensure server availability to the network.

Link Aggregation
The combining of multiple adapters into a single channel to provide greater bandwidth. Bandwidth increase is only available when connecting to multiple destination addresses. ALB mode provides aggregation for transmission only while RLB, SLA, and IEEE 802.3ad dynamic link aggregation modes provide aggregation in both directions. Link aggregation modes requires switch support, while ALB and RLB modes can be used with any switch.

Load Balancing
The distribution of the transmission and reception load the among aggregated network adapters. An intelligent adaptive agent in the ANS driver repeatedly analyzes the traffic flow from the server and distributes the packets based on destination addresses. (In IEEE 802.3ad modes the switch provides load balancing on incoming packets.)
Note: Load Balancing in ALB mode can only occur on Layer 3 routed protocols (IP and NCP IPX). Load Balancing in RLB mode can only occur for TCP/IP. Multicasts, broadcasts, and non-routed protocols are transmitted only over the primary adapter.

There's no bandwidth cap on your local network, you can transfer as many files as you want locally

NIC Teaming would provide additional bandwidth from the server to multiple clients, provided you are connected to a switch that will support teaming/LACP and has been configured as such.

It would be worth doing an analysis of current traffic to see if you are already saturating your singular link or not.

What switch are you using? If it isn't a managed switch, you can forget about this unless you're ready to drop some real money for a managed gig switch.
