M5A97 to replace fried M4A88TD-ECO USB3

Had a water cooling accident yesterday morning, and after waiting a full day to dry the parts out, I was happy to POST but the display is totally wonky: orange & yellow heavy lines, lots of "snow" or interference, and though I make it to the Windows logon, after entering PW, blank screen followed by scary fast flickering so I just shut down @ that point. Suspecting maybe only GPU failure, switched display to IGP but got exact same behavior. . . So, I think at very least mobo is toast. . . maybe proc, too but hoping not!

Thinking about getting a M5A97.

Does baking a mobo work like it does on Cairo video cards?

i have heard of baking a mobo but that usually it to fix some soldering on bad connections. The only issue is that the mob has so can piece of plastic on it that removing them will be difficult as to not melt. It's a bit easier to strip a video card.

Also the M5A97 would be a great upgrade

Thanks, I've got both the mobo & the GPU in my gas oven with just the heat from the pilot light. . . But honestly I'm kinda hoping the mobo's dead so I can get the M5 with UEHI

B-)
