intel i5 2300

Thread Starter
Ok, i was going to build a rig around a 2500k, but my budget is looking like it might fall short, so now im looking at a 2300 witch is around $180 or about 40-50 dollers cheaper; thing is its locked but ive heard they can be overclock via turbo. But i cant seem to find i good guild or explaination to how this works and how to do it. Any help is welcome

I am just taking a fairly educated guess, but most motherboards have preset turbo settings (i know mine does). You click on the turbo setting you want, and that's what you get. My 3.3 GHz I5 has turbo bost options up to 3.7 GHz. (I have never used it, since i manually overclock it to 4.7 GHz).

The i5-2300 is 2.8 GHz and turbo-boosts to 3.1 GHz.

I also know some motherboards have a option to keep turbo boost running at max 24/7.

Honestly, i feel your better off to keep saving up your money and get the 2500K. Your probably kick yourself for not getting it.
