Intel i5 2500k, Asrock z68 gen3 extreme 3 overclocking, noob needs help!

Hi guys, i've decided to get a gaming system in preparation for Diablo III, and after reading/watching many reviews this is what i've decided on

Intel i5-2500k - $275
Asrock z68 gen3 extreme 3 - $269
Corsair/G.skillz/Ripsaw 8GB (2x4) 1600Mhz DDR3 9cas - $85
Nvidia GTX 560-ti, probably the MSI 2GB DDR5 Twin Frozr II - $395
Corsair HX650 Modular PSU -$158
1 Tb HDD Western Digital caviar black 64Mb 7200RPM - $209
Corsair force series 3 SSD 60GB - $145
Corsair H60 high performance hydro cooler (for CPU) - $129
21" - 23" monitor at 1920 X 1080 resolution - $300
Simple disk drive - $50
Gaming casing - $100
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit (OEM) - $115
Decent KB/Mouse - $100

Total = $2330, or 1408 Euros

Prices in Singapore Dollar, 1USD = 1.254 SGD, 1 Euro = 1.654 SGD

If anyone has suggestions regarding a better part for a reasonable price do tell me! I'm unsure what monitor would be good, as well as the gaming case. The above prices are the cheapest i could find at local shops. We don't have newegg or any big suppliers with cheaper prices.

I'm using the 60GB Corsair SSD to cache data, so i'll install Win7 and everything else on the HDD while setting up the entire SSD for caching. (not sure if i'm talking rubbish at this point i'm completely new to this but i read somewhere about the SRT technology in the z68 board and how the SSD used for caching can improve performance like shortening load screen times)

What i need help with is a guide to overclocking my CPU. I don't intend to overclock my GPU unless someone advises otherwise. For the CPU, i would ideally like to hit 4.3-4.5 Ghz while maintaining a safe temperature. If anyone could post me link to a guide to overclocking it would be greatly appreciated! =) i'm completely new at this so i have no idea where to even start, i read something about making sure my computer is RAID ready or stuff like that, plus the confusion of wanting to set up the SSD as a cache system i have no idea if i should connect both the HDD and SSD first, then install Win7 or just the HDD.

why is all your stuff so expensive?
I'd go with the corsair Nova over the force..Nova uses the more reliable Indilinx controller
AsRock support is terribad IMO
i'd go with asus/biostar/msi/gigabyte ..in that order :lachen.gif:
PS..caching is overrated..just put the OS on the ssd

no idea it's just Singapore prices i guess frown.gif ok thanks for the tips! I did read some good reviews on the Asrock extreme 3 gen 3 mobo. My only Asus alternatives are

Asus P8Z68-V-LE X-fire/U3S6/GBL/HDMI

Asus P8Z68M Pro

the rest are a little too expensive.
if you have to..that mobo is OK ..it's not so good for multi-gpu..due to the lower slot being too low
do they have a biostar tz68K+ available? it's a nice board. better quality chokes than asrock's..only good for one gpu,though..really

BioStar TZ68K+ Z68 DDR3/GBE/U3S6

yep, its $169 compared to $269 for the Asrock. But one GPU might be a little disadvantageous.

alright! by the way i just read that asus mobos have this software that i can use for overclocking? It's not as precise but i don't plan on doing hardcore OC anyway, just 4.3-4.5 Ghz, hopefully below 1.35volts.
Don't use software overclocking. There are plenty of guides for UEFI overclocking. Just make a post on here when you get everything set up and I bet people will help you.

And if you go Asus. Don't get a low-end board. They suck (I've had two P8P67s die on me). I switched to ASRock. The ASRock Extreme 4 should be a better bet than the Extreme 3.

hmm, could you suggest a reasonable Asus Mobo then? i'm thinking of going for the Z68 mobos for the caching ability. Don't intend to OC too much too, just till 4.5 Ghz.
Would something like

ASUS P8Z68V-PRO - $320

Asus P8Z68-V /Gen3 - $358

Asus P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3 VGA/U3S6/GBL - $390

be considered decent? I'm not sure about the differences but i only require something mid-range.

I'll be getting the set up probably early march, so i was really just hoping for a guide that i could read meanwhile to familiarize myself with the OC process!
