Well, call me crazy, but I just upgraded from the 88UB all 45 grf to the 87UW all 55 grf.
Originally I assumed based on a cherry mx red that 45grf is the way to go for me. So i went for the all 45grf, also due to the fact that it is available in my prefered language layout.
After around 1 year daily usage of the 45grf, mainly gaming, i decided that i probably would be even more happy with 55grf.
There were only a few minor things that bothered me with the 88ub:
- the lack of contrast of the key caps (before that, i thought i could as well use blank key caps, apparently, i am not as pro as i thought
)
- missing caps lock led
- due to the low actuation force i sometimes accidently activated a key (especially in moba style games)
So after torturing myself for some time if i really want to dump another 300 bucks for a keyboard I just went for it.
Quite happy now, besides that it took me quite some effort (around 20 keyboards) to get to this point.

How has that board been holding up mate? I just noticed that EKB was having a sale on all Topre boards, and I'm mighty tempted by the 45g 87U for $300. I probably wouldn't be fully happy until I also got an orange key conversion kit to give the board a bit of flair. Truth be told what I'd really want is a G-Tune Masterpiece tenkeyless, but that might never be made unfortunately.
