UPS for 425W gaming, from amazon.ca?

Thread Starter
can anyone recommend a UPS from amazon.ca that would be fairly good for a gaming rig that doesn't go above 550W usage? (not the rig in sig, the 550W PSU in that was a leftover, and a bit overkill... redface.gif)

I tried using the search but didn't have much luck, I have like $70 credit to amazon.ca but can go a little higher.

I'm eyeing these:

http://www.amazon.ca/APC-UPS-BE350G-Back-UPS-Shutdown-Software/dp/B001985SWW/ref=sr_1_64?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1327690602&sr=1-64

http://www.amazon.ca/Back-Ups-Outlet-Without-Communication-Bilingual/dp/B002LWSXBS/ref=sr_1_62?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1327690602&sr=1-62 (I think this one is better of the 2?) edit: just checked again, the rig and screen together use around 425W, so this UPS should give 1 min to shutdown right?)

can anyone help me on which is better? mainly getting for protection against brownouts... although 1min+ after a blackout would be nice too.

TBH i'd just get something like this :

http://www.amazon.ca/Belkin-BE112230-08-12-Outlet-Protector-Protection/dp/B000J2EN4S/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1327691137&sr=1-1

unless you have crucial data you need to save, but even that, most things autosave regularly these days.

I'm in Canada montreal, so i'd say blackouts happen at least once a month, especially in the winter months. Brownouts have happened at least twice in my apartment here in the last year (not sure if the electrician messing up some of the wiring here has anything to do with it... it's a fairly new building - the plugs my pc is in are wired correctly, mainly the light switches got messed up).

I think better safe than sorry right?

edit: already have a nice surge protector, but correct me if i'm wrong, those don't provide full protection from brownouts... I haven't taken an IT course in a long time, can brownouts damage components? (I think they can and that's my main concern)
my data I don't really care about since gaming saves almost everything I need online these days apart from a few certain things...

The UPS you have named are too weak. 350 VA means nothing (ignore the VA rating). Both of their rated wattage are 200 W. I do recommend 300 W because you will be plugging your monitor into the UPS as well, and 300 W gives you some backup time.

OOPS, This is NOT for sig rig.

You need something more powerful.
