Hey all,

I've, almost complete with parts for build, just have the GPU, Case and RAM to get.

Should I get this with a lifetime warranty ATI XFX Double HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150549

Or wait for the mid-range ati 7000 SERIES

Also any good case recommendations,

Thanks

Finding a 6950 to lock anymore is getting scarse i bought mine about a month ago and wasnt able to unlock if you have the money id recommend getting a 7 series card, the 6950 is a good card though plays bf3 with good frames and smooth on ultra

Thanks Bud,

So you think the 7000 will tend to play BF3 better and maybe the 7000 a bit more for the $

We don't have performance data for the 7870/7850 yet, but they should be similar to the 6970/6950. If you're playing BF3 at 1080p, a single 6950 will get the job done on Ultra settings, though your framerate might dip into the 30's at times. And it will likely be easier to find deals on the 6950 since it's older.

If you wait for the 7000 series... you'll be waiting for the 8000 series... it's a never ending cycle.

I'd get the HD6950, the 7950 is probably going to be more expensive at launch.

wait till 7xxx cards launch in full, grab one when they do if you like the performance, or get a 6xxx for cheaper.

cases i use regularly for customers: corsair 650D, corsair 500/400r, Antec 300, Antec 900, NZXT Phantom, Silverstone Raven

I'd usually agree with the waiting forever thing, but the 78xxs are going to drop in February - I'm personally just going to see what they have to offer.
Besides you'll probably be able to pickup a 69xx a little cheaper once the 7xxxs are out in full swing.

Not sure if it's imporant to you or not, but the 6850/70 will be die shrinks of the 6950/70 respectively and will have a lower tdp, power-draw.
