ok so are you telling me that nickle plated block users are the only ones who need anti corrosion? Or are brass and copper also susceptible to corrosion after say a year? Are copper blocks electroplated as well or would that just be nickle?
I realize all these things are prone to corrosion, but curious to see pictures of ppls broken down loops after 1, 2, 3 yrs to get an idea of what the general decay rate is. Is it so bad you have to re-finish your blocks? stepping I think its called? Thanks MAV

What you need to research a little on is galvanic corrosion. Most metals can exist in harmony with one another. Others can not live even in the same loop.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galvanic_corrosion

The most well known galvanic corrosion happens between copper/brass and aluminum.

As for nickel, electroless plating tends to work best if the plating thickness is around 30-microns. The better ELN plating is one meeting RoHS standards. This plating would have the least amount of impurities.

I have a EK supreme nickel cpu, it is the EN version that is new improved version regarding nickel plating.

Do I need to worry about corrosion in my system.

As far as I can tell all in my system is copper and nickel(cpu)

grand, I wouldn't worry about it. I've had about 15 guys say you will be fine with just distilled water and maybe a bit of biocide.

Maverick insists corrosion is more of a problem than people make it out to be, yet I have not heard from one person about their personal experience with corrosion.

Besides, Maverick is a sherrif and hes from TN, so we all know that's a winning combination for intelligence. Haha totally kidding, I know their are plenty of law enforcement particular individuals that ARE intelligent.

On a serious note thou maverick I would love to see some pictures of evidence of corrosion if you know of any? I will do a bit of searching now as well,

Heres a paragraph on it: http://www.koolance.com/technical/cooling101/004.html It seems like the main concern is just NOT using tap water, which is obviously full of garbage you dont want in ur system.

It would have to live in the RES. One would need to use a filter valve to prevent fish do-do going into the loop. The RES is iseal since air can mix well to keep the guppy alive. biggrin.gif

that would be so cool. 2 bad there would be almost no oxygen in your water for them to live. Maybe a chiller, running to an aquarium, that then runs to your loop lol.
