Well, yes, it's because no dump files were generated. By default, when Windows crashes it generates a dump file, but since you're freezing, I believe the dump file is not being generated.

So, you've reformatted and you still freeze, but when you go into safe mode, you DON'T freeze? Something software related may be causing this. Perform a selective start-up to ensure that any background or start-up programs aren't causing this:

Start >type in the search box msconfig

In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Selective Startup on the General tab.

  • Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
  • Note The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.
  • Click the Services tab.
  • Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
  • Click Disable All, and then click OK.
  • When you are prompted, click Restart.

This was one of the first things I went through. I went through one by one trying to find what was freezing me. After the new install I had even stopped every single service and still froze.

- Side note, I am using the pc right now and have not froze yet ~ 20min, it usually goes before this.

Unless you have made any changes, it could just be a coincidence. However, keep us updated smile.gif

It could be RAM, even though Memtest passed. Do you have another board to test the RAM in, or other RAM to test?

Unfortunately, no my other PC is DDR2 so no go there. The only other thing I could do is test with one stick at a time.

Which is what I recommend doing with memtest64+. Do both sticks individually for no more than 3-4 passes.

Seems as if that was the problem. Memtest ran fine on one of the sticks, froze with the other. Looks like i'll be ordering some more memory today.
