Help, can't assign Disk Letter D: to storage HDD

So I just swapped my system into a new case and noticed my start menu icon to launch steam did not work so I created a new one by launching the application from my storage drive and noticed my drive was now assigned as letter F, while my boot SSD is still labled as C:......
Looking in Disk Management shows only my SSD boot drive, and the Storage drive now labled F, plus the 100mb boot partition windows creates with no letter assignment.

Upon attempting to change the letter back to D for my storage drive I notice there is no D listed what so ever. It lists A,B,F,E,G..... etc....
C is being used for Boot and D is not listed, but is not assigned to anything. How can I fix this? The issue is some of my programs are not pathed to F and are not functioning, such as all my music stuff. thanks!

  1. Press start.
  2. Click the search box.
  3. Type diskpart, press Enter.
  4. Type list volume.
  5. Then post a screenshot when you are done.

D is most likely already in use by something. If you have an SD card reader then you need to turn on hidden folders in folder options. Windows 7 by default hides SD card reader (for me atleast) when they are not in use in my computer(computer).

Turn on hidden files then go back to disk managment reassign the SD card to a random letter, take the drive you want to be D and assign it D and then you're done.

Thanks dude! You were spot on! I dont ever have junk plugged into my pc like that other than my phone but for some reason it recognized it as a hidden drive this time, weird, never has before. all is well.
