PNY 470 w/ Antec 620 Help - Page 6

Make sure to back up your original bios if you're flashing, and you can use a bios from any reference 470. smile.gif
My MSI and PNY cards are both using the EVGA voltage identifying bios.

Also, make sure you keep instructions on how to flash back handy in case it goes wrong. Flash from dos if possible but I have also used a flashing tool from inside windows successfully.

Sorry for being so un - knowledgeable about flashing and bios's redface.gif.

I was googling around, and found

GTX 470/465 OVERVOLTAGE BIOS
EVGA Identifying (http://www.tunerspotter.com/bios/OVEVGA470.rar)
ASUS Identifying (http://www.tunerspotter.com/bios/OVASUS470.rar)

I was wondering which one should I get? I have the PNY 470, so I guess I get the EVGA Identifying just like Mike?

Also, What programs do I need for flashing? I saw this, and it's talking about a program called "NVFlash", and I have no clue where to start on the flashes, nor where to make backups confused.gif

Edit - I got the idea now, but I want to make sure this tutorial will work for me, does anyone know?

Everyone has to start somewhere. smile.gif
Either one will work but I used the EVGA one in case I ever wanted to use the EVGA scanner tool, it detects my cards as EVGA now. tongue.gif
That tutorial looks fine.
I used either GPU-Z or the flashing program to make a backup. I forget which as this was quite a while ago.
As long as you read all instructions carefully everything will be fine. thumb.gif

Alright.. I'm having problems...
450
Any clue what I did wrong? I think it's not finding the path to the .rom file, but i'm clueless on what I did wrong, followed the instructions.. Going to read over them again..

Edit - Fixed! Had the files in the wrong directory just as I expected, working fine now. Can someone tell me, What voltage should I not go over? I have my max at 1125V right now

Well, I'd stay below 1.1 unless you've got a fan blowing on the heatsink and probably 1.137V if you've got plenty of airflow over it and it's not getting very hot.
My 470's GPU stays below 45C under load but the card itself gets pretty hot if I stress test on 1.125V so if you don't have enough airflow over the heatsink you could have trouble keeping things cool.

VRM cooling is important on 470s. The VRMs are a bit of a weak point and the core overclocks so well that you'd probably damage them before the GPU itself if you're watercooling your GPU.

Alright, now I have a problem thats concerning me... I saw that my temp was at 35 when I resat the Antec 620 when I would always get 29-30C idling, I resat it again, and i'm still getting 35C-37C idling temp, and when I furmark, I hear a noise from my graphic card that I never heard before. Kind of like a squeeling noise. Going to upload a video now with the sound

If you listen closely, at 1:24 you can hear the squealing / screeching sound.

Should I just reseat it again and hope for the best, or what?

The squealing is nothing to be concerned about, it's just coil whine and is perfectly normal. Your card actually had it before you just couldn't hear it over the fan noise. If you want to reseat the cooler again to try for better temps then go ahead but don't go crazy trying to reseat it a dozen times. Just reseat it once more and be careful, deliberate, and try and do the best job you can. If you let yourself get worked up and keep trying to reseat it over and over again you are likely to rush yourself and make a mistake.

About the thermal tape, most Enzotech heatsinks do come with it pre-applied but there smaller ones do not, so that is normal. I don't know how you might salvage some tape that you think isn't sticky anymore buy if you need to buy some more you can here.

I just reseated it again, and i'm at 31C now, not what I like since i'm tired and grumpy right now, but it'll do till tomorrow. I'm also having a big issue with benchmarking. When using furmark, my card would never go over 58C, until now, sometime within a minute or two of furmarking my computer shuts down. This never happened till I flashed the voltage. Could that be the problem?

I took some tape from the heatspreader block, and put it on some of the heatsinks. When I said they were literally not sticky, I really ment it. I would push the heatsink onto a large piece on the gfx card, and it would slide and fall right off. Shame to see that enzo gives low quality tape for a cheap product, or maybe I just got some really crappy tape this time, who knows.
