Whats a safe voltage for a 2600K to run at?

Thread Starter
I currently have my 2600K overclocked to 4.4Ghz at 1.35V, and I was just wondering if this is a fairly normal voltage, and if its safe to have it sitting at that?

I know from what Ive read, the chips can handle up to 1.5V, but not 24/7 and others have said that 1.35 is high and still others say 1.4V is too high, so I really have no idea.

The only settings I have changed in the BIOS for my CPU is the voltage, the multipliers and I've turned hyperthreading off.

Also, and this may be related, what does a BSOD with the BCCode 24 mean? I'm not sure if it's my CPU or what, so may as well ask here.

Don't go above 1.45V 24/7 IMO. 1.4V should be perfectly safe. (Assuming temps are fine of course.) thumb.gif

Well, thats good to hear, though I cant tell what voltage mine sits at 24/7, since Coretemp apparently shows some random voltage thing, and no other program I can find shows my CPUs voltage in realtime. But Im guessing it wont go abovce 1.35V, so should be safe methinks.

What are some dangers from undervolting, cos I think If I try going that low, it might be too low for me.

Oh yeah that's completely safe. I'm running my 2600k @ 4.6 ghz on 1.41 Volts.

I would personally stay under 1.45V for 24/7. I'm sure it would be fine but I run my 2500k at 4.5Ghz @ 1.25V since any thing higher kinda goes unnoticed unless when benching. Like Pete said, you should try to get your volts down for that clock.

Edit: Not having enough voltage normally just leads to an unstable oc, usually causing BSOD's. Normally nothing too serious though.

Undervolting will just get you a BSOD, which means to increase your volts a bit.

I just tried dropping it to 1.3V and itr seems to be working ok, I guess I'll just run a Prime95 stress test and see what happens.
