If you can afford the 6950 you can flash the bios up to the 6970 speeds to get some serious speeds outta that thing. thumb.gif

Might see some minor sales on the 6xxx series since the 7xxx has come out. I doubt we will see anything big. But never hurts to save a few bucks.

I second this. 179.99 for the CPU and 50 off of any mobo for the CPU...hell of a deal. and for 50 bucks you can get the end all be all of ram for a i5 gaming set up(1600 cas 8 work's perfect).

nudge nudge, you want to look at the Sapphire Dirt3 edition 6950. Its a good card, and one of the few still sold that has the dual bios with the spiffy unlocked BIOS already loaded. Just flip a switch to see if you got a 6970, if not flip it back and clock the snot out of it:)

To be honest I would hold off and save more cash. You could get a really nice graphics card for $450 and under, but the rest of you system would bottleneck it. If you could save another $250 than you would be able to upgrade most of your components.

$220 Intel 2500K
$260-350 (6950/570gtx)
$130 1155 Intel Motherboard
$50 8GB DDR3

Total= $680-750

Sure you'll notice a difference with a better graphics card, but not enough to warrant it an exclusive purchase. You need a system overhaul to make an upgrade worthwhile. If it was me, I would hold off until I had another $250 to invest in other components.
