Hey guys, thanks for all the feedback thus far. A few thoughts on what you have told me...
- I intended to get a PSU capable of handling a second 7970 were I decide to get one down the road- 850watts is more than enough for that I will definitely drop down from the 1000W.
- As the computer will be primarily for gaming, I am told that the extra money for the i7 isn't really worth it (since hyperthreading offers no benefits at present.
- I hadn't really considered water cooling, but the price doesn't look unreasonable. Is the H60 really all in one, or are other aftermarket purchases going to be needed? I was also curious as to how difficult water cooling systems are to install and if being in a system that may "move" would be a problem. I have built a computer before without any real difficulties, but at a glance the water cooling installation looks pretty daunting. The computer will also make periodic trips between the office and living room for putting things on the big screen, and I was curious if moving around a water-cooled system is a recipe for disaster.
The only other thing I am reconsidering is the 7970. The premium is pretty high at the moment, and I am debating whether I should grab 6970 instead or wait for the 7870s to come out. As I understand if the 7870 will be a pretty good jump up from the 6970 without the "enthusiast premium" being charged for the 7970. It seems like the 7870 would be the best choice for getting a powerful machine without getting beat-up too bad on price. Would love to hear your thoughts
Thanks again for all the help guys.
