Anyone own a GoPro?

Looking into getting myself one of these.

I do a lot of sailing in the summer time so I would like to know if any of you either have used a GoPro for this or if you have used a GoPro for wet sports before, and what you're experiences were with them smile.gif

If you have one, please do tell me your experiences nonetheless smile.gif

Newschooler...lol

They're awesome for skiing and stuff. Although I don't own one I see many freestyle skiers with gopro.

They're awesome for any type of action sport that requires a helmet. Great for seeing the visual of POV when doing freestyle tricks. Although you'd probably have to edit it to slowmo for any type of 'film quality' video...
They're worth it! They're awesome!

They are awesome, I bought the gopro hero 2 right before x-mas and I really don't regret it. My only comment on it is that sadly, it is not great underwater (yet), gopro has yet to make a flat lens casing (or replacement) and that would be needed to for quality underwater video or pictures (the current lens keeps the camera out of focus when underwater).

Appart from that little comment, which is really secific to one particular use, it is a great camera and really, I don't see any other product that for the same price, can bring you this quality!

I think they are excellent. I use them as B cam or action cams on my productions. I'd never rely on them as my main camera but they are great for creative cutaways or cool action shots. I shot a corporate video for a security company recently and had go pros on the response vehicles and quad bikes. Got some awesome shots. I also attached one to a security officers tac vest which also got some amazing action shots.

Luckily I am not planning on taking it underwater smile.gif

I am just looking for the Surf Edition (which I assume would also work off the water).

I have a DSLR already for photography so I would solely be using this for videos. Filming is something that is new to me, so I want to get into it as I have seen some of the stuff some people have produced with these camera's and I am impressed.

My brother has one and he seems to be quiet happy with it. I'll ask him to pop over and give his opinion.

Hi there, I have the surf edition for my windsurfing. I would recommend actually getting the helmet hero edition, they are all waterproof (including the no-frills go pro only edition) and the helmet edition comes with a useful headstrap. I use both the headstrap and my http://www.flymount.com/ and find it excellent. I have sold the surf edition part on ebay as that only is for actual surfers.
