I use both the headstrap and my http://www.flymount.com/ and find it excellent. I have sold the surf edition part on ebay as that only is for actual surfers.

Thanks for all of your input!

@Niko-Time: I didn't know that they were all waterproof... What is so particular with the Surf Edition? The fact that it can go in the water and still record?

They all come with the protective case which is pretty much unbreakable, shockproof and waterproof. They also come with two different types of back cover, one which is fully sealed and another with a gap at the back, the latter is with superior audio (up to 100mph - for over use the sealed backplate). Surf kit simply has the mount to stick it to the front of the surf board. I would recommend the flymount for sailing I think...it can clip on pretty much anything and would be handy to wack anywhere on the mast.

Mega, the differences with the kits is what accessories they come with. all the cameras are the exact same, but they come with different mounting parts, all of which you can also buy separately. i'm pretty sure all the non-naked kits come with the waterproof housing, and there is also a skeleton housing that you can mount the camera and also plug cords into it, but it isn't waterproof obviously.

I have a GoPro Hero (first one, not the Hero2.) and i found it is amazing outdoors, but in low light the quality drops off really fast. So much noise, and you cant see much in the videos.

All in all its a pretty great camera though.

As some others mentioned, in any "kit" you purchase, the GoPro Hero2 is the same and they all come with the protective case (waterproof). The only thing that differs from kit to kit is the accessories that come with it.

Just saying, but the GoPro is actually what TV broadcasters are using. I know for supercross/motocross (dirtbike racing), its what they use for the helmet camera. And a GoPro is what they use for in-car camera's for racing series such as NASCAR and such. I don't know if its because of sponsoring and advertising, or because they're actually that good. But its what is being broadcasted to millions of peoples HDTV's.

Contour makes a camera similar in capabilities and function to the goPro. It has a different formfactor which makes it a bit easier to mount in certain scenarios. I have personally used my Contour for filming airsoft matches. It also has waterproof kits, and a huge variety of mounting options.

I've see those before, looks like it would make a far better as a helmet cam than a GoPro Hero.

The cool thing about the Contour is that you can change the rotation of the lens without mounting it differently. The GoPro lens doesn't rotate, so you have to mount it differently.
