No that's like a 'bad things start to happen past here' figure. Just don't run Furmark (it's a useless test for your card) and don't do anything to increase the temperatures like trying to manually lower the fan speed or increase the voltage to the card at all or anything like that and you should be fine. I mean it would be better if you could do something about the fact that it's 100F in the room with the computer in it but the card is designed to take that kind of heat.

Yeah man I totally regret getting the 590 should of went for 2 580's SLI
would cost me some more but the temps wouldn't scare me that much and it's even better than the 590... Might move my 590 to a different build I'm gonna have and get 2 580's ..
Good Luck with ur temps!

Done deal, I don't plan on OC'ing this card...

As for the heat, at my house alone we have 4 high powered PC's, 2 running 590s, one with a 580 and one with a 560, then theirs the modem and server PC (they both generate a fair amount of heat) and then the general heat of the playstations/TVs ect ect...
There is one AC, it gets used while we watch movies, that's it. If all the PC's were bunched together I'd be fine trying to cool that room down, but trying to cool a 5 bedroom house with one AC is fighting a loosing battle that just ends up on the powerbill :\

The joys of owning your own home and living with 3 others -_-

Yea thanks mate, I can't really move this card to another build, but I'll probably plan much much further ahead on my next build!

This whole topic has left some ideas floating around in my head, going to look into some kind of exhaust duct to vent the hot air out of an open window!
Will see what I can come up with!

One idea for ya:

Cable management biggrin.gif

That alone could explain your temps difference.
The side of the card exhausting inside the case is all covered in wires (saw it on your pics).

If you re-route all of those cables through the back or the sides of the case your temps will improve (the looks will improve too! smile.gif )
About the fps difference between your rig and your friends, it is negligible. It is more likely due to differences in driver installation (location of the files, registry), windows registry (not only driver-related), etc etc.

About a day ahead of you, the cables are still there but i parted them from one side of the GPU to the other.
that side's exhaust is fairly cool at idle, I'm afraid juano was spot on about the other exhaust, it even FEELS way hotter than the other one!!
If there was ever a mod to do to this card to help it cool, it'd be removing the bottom DVI port lol

Maybe Time to invest in water-cooling? Got to love my HD 6990 just hitting 55C @ 1.285v.
