Question about HT mult and FSB spd - Page 2

post #11 of 34
Have you manually set your DDR timings in the BIOS or are they by SPD.

All you should have to do is:
CPU<->NB = X4
CPU VCore = 1.392
FSB = 250

I ahve a feeling that your memory timings are not right.

Ah I see, Vcore is right there in the main screen of jumper free configuration, not in the chipset voltage. Also, I use the vcore off set, and set vcore 1.275 to get 1.392 at bootup.

I just thried to OC a little with the AI Booster program that came on the mobo support CD. Sent me to reboot and then gave be a few beeps then told me to enter BIOS to reset to default settings. The AI Booster set the FSB to 220 and it gave me the same result as when I manually set it to 250.

My RAM is set to 4 4 4 12 2T DDR 800MHz.

There are so many options for voltages, though. But you're saying all I need to change is the CPU as well? Not the chipset at all?

Yes, don't touch of of those chipset voltages, leave them all on auto amd last one at 1.5. Set Vcore to 1.275, and enable the Vcore Offset option.

And don't use any of those Asus programs to OC. Make sure EPP ram is DISABLED, and Cool and quiet is Off.

Is there any way I can print the BIOS screen? Would probably be easiest if I show u all the settings. Lol hang on ill try to take pictures of it. Disable PEG link as well. EPP memory is called SLI-ready memory in the BIOS, disable that too along with AMD live! and AMD C'n'Q.

LMAO ok. Well I just tried a number of different combinations. I get one long beep and then 2 short one when it tries to POST. I'm going to google what those mean. Could it have to do with me having memory set to 1.9v?

I tried Voltage offset on and off for every combination I did. Set CPU vcore to 1.275, 3.250 a anything in between. Tried FSB at 10 intervals from 200~250.

I'm not sure what's going on...

Here this might help.....not sure what the beeping is, my mobo's never made a noise before, usually the beeping thing happens with gfx card not being powered up, make sure your PSU is up to snuff as well.
This is what I would use to run at 2.5Ghz. Change to all these settings, cept 250HTT, start with 205, and work your way up by 5 til the thing freaks or u hit 250. Also that Vcore off set is under the advanced voltage settings, first one.

Well it seems anytime I try to change anything with the exception of the voltage for the memory and their timings I get those beeps during post and have to change back to defaults. Maybe there is something really simple I have overlooked that wont let me OC at all? This couldn't me a hardware problem could it?

I will try and apply the exact settings tyou posted in your pictures judge and then let you know what happens. I'm resigned to the fact that there will probably be the same result but I'll give it a try a little later tonight. Thanks again for all your help.

Ok, when I googled what the series of beeps is telling me when I try to boot after changing FSB etc.. it tells me that the sequence I'm hearing (1 long beep followed by 2 short ones) means that the is a "Video adapter error: Bad or improperly seated video card".

Well if that is the case then how can I use my machine when I leave FSB to stock? Could this be a problem with my PCI-E slot?

Did you lock the PCI-e bus to 100 mhz and the PCI bus to 33.33 mhz? Try that if you havent
