How is the texture on that thing?

Too rough for my taste, likely because the knit isn't very tight. Has a slight sandpaper feel to it when you rub across with quick swipes. I think that it could be a bit thicker and bigger as well. It's a decent pad though and I've held on to it because I've made a bit of a collection with mouse pads.

Hi, I recently got myself a NAOS 5000 and I have a question I would like to ask.

While I was playing around with the LED customization menu, after I have selected a colour and hit "Apply" , the mouse would change to that colour and then start blinking for around 2-3 seconds.

Is this normal?

thanks

I've also had the same issue with the mouse not working when you boot up until you unplug it, it seems to happen randomly. Once I plug it back in it takes a really long time to start working again as well. Its a weird driver glitch I guess, the software always tells me there is a new driver but it won't download it. Besides the software I'm really happy with the ergonomics so I will continue to use it. I tried a deathadder and a rat7 and hated both of them.
I can duplicate the problem easily on my end.

1) Boot linux -- You can even use a live CD. I am recently playing with Linux Mint so that is what I used.
2) Do some stuff. The mouse will behave normally.
3) Tell Linux to reboot. The computer will shut down and happily reboot.
4) Boot into any OS; Windows or Linux. Mouse will be off and just sit there till you unplug the USB cable and reinsert it. I've tried Linux Mint 11 and 12 and Win XP32(sp3) and Win7-64. The result is the same.
4a) If you shut down the machine and turn off the mains (from the power supply) The mouse will function correctly on its next use. Which is just like pulling the USB connector and plugging it back in.

My guess as to what is happening:
Since my previous three mice (Logitech Mouseman basic, Razer Deathadder, Razer Imperator) did not have this issue, it is unlikely that Linux is sending an improper command to the mouse that universally screws them up. It appears to be unique to the Mionix devices.
It also is not likely to be the USB port is set up incorrectly in my BIOS because the problem would again be duplicated with those mice under that condition as well.
My guess is that Linux tells the mouse to shut down / go to sleep on shutdown and the mouse's on board microcontroller either gets stuck in a bad state or it doesn't check the incoming traffic from the USB port after it is put to sleep and it misses the "wake up" message. It's also a possibility that it starts to wake up and the USB interface is too fast and it then gets stuck in a bad state / doesn't respond to a query in time. If you have an USB protocol analyzer in house such as this one made by LeCroy this should be easy to duplicate and ferret out.

As for the double click issue, I had it happen for a short while, but it wasn't consistent. My gut instinct was again either a possible firmware issue, a funky software switch debounce, or someone has a capacitor sized just on the hairy edge of working. If I can figure out how to duplicate it reliably I'll post how I did it.

Hardware used:
It is actually the two machines described below in my rig signature. Results are the same at stock CPU speeds or overclocked. The BIOS for both boards are current to my knowledge.
I also recently picked up a Logitech G9X and I want to try the same thing with it that I described above. I'll edit this post and report the results.

Also, I gotta get me a set of those skates. It's unfortunate that there is so much right about this mouse and these quirks that just shouldn't be. eh-smiley.gif

well today I started getting a mouse failure, it wouldn't work on boot up and drivers stopped working until I unplugged the mouse and plugged it back in again, I havent had a single issue until today, hope Mionix is working on a fix

everything seems to be back to normal now the mouse must not have liked my OC on the CPU

What were you doing before the mouse stopped talking? I just had a similar experience, but I suspect it was because I was loading chipset drivers on a fresh Windows 7 install and nothing more. This was also my machine running at stock clock speeds. I'm still feeling confident in my thoughts on the root cause above. Hopefully the folks from Mionix can tell us something more definitive.

It just quit working after I dialed in a Overclock and had to reboot and asked to install drivers or pop up saying driver failed to respond, unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in worked until I would have to adjust the OC again or a failed OC

I just discovered my software no longer works, it just hangs if I try to change any settings. Support on these mice is really bad, the last update to the program was 2 years ago.
