500$ PC Capable of Running BF3? - Page 4

It depends where you buy your parts...

Here is my Wifes HTPC/Gaming rig that might end up for me if I sell my PC: frown.gif

AMD Phenom II 830
MSI 760G motherboard
8GB DDR3 1600 RAM
2TB 7000rpm drive
ASUS Blu ray-ROM
Antec Neo eco 620w
NZXT source 210
Zerotherm Nirvana
ASUS 560 DCII
Extra 2 CoolerMaster 120mm fans

I paid 379 AR and could have been 369 AR if I hadn't fogotten to send my ram's rebate frown.gif Most of the stuff is either used, MC or Open Box.
I haven't actually run BF3 in this computer, but I had this 560 in my main rig running at stock and it was able to play it at High/Ultra not
cranking up AA too much. If I OC the 830 it should do fairly well at High.

Ok here this is for 711.93 (this doesnt have os added, you will see why)

298

This build should play the game pretty well especially if you lower the resolution some. I didnt include a dvd drive since u could just rip one out of another machine, also
take note of the mail in rebates, for like 20 mins of work you will get 60+ bucks back, making this build around the 650 mark, 750 if you include a OS. I mean I could prolly make it cheaper,
but cutting corners is only going to make the build offer less performance. Another note id like you to take is to do whatever you can to get a Hard drive from somewhere else...HDDs are
so expensive right now its hardly worth it to buy a new one. Keep an eye on the marketplace here and get a good deal, i recently purchased 2 RE2s that work great for 80 bucks TOGETHER
and are running them happily in my new build.

I DVD burner would be nice, its not much more than just a regular DVD drive right? Thanks for your time!

You could also work with the 600 you have and see if you can find a deal in the OS... You could download and Iso and install the Win7 version you plan
to install and then You'll have 30 days to save for it tongue.gif You could also try to get it cheap through school if you go to school or through your work if you happen to have a computer related job.

List comes out to $744.89(added some shipping on the items from total)+tax.Rebates come out to $40.So in reality you will probably be paying $750 or so for this rig.No HDD on the list.I suggest you re-use the one that's on your old rig for now until you can save money and get yourself a 80GB SSD for faster boot time or even a used one here on OCN marketplace. If you think an SSD has minimal storage space for your needs then get yourself a used 150GB to 300GB Velociraptor here also.Good balance of speed and storage. If your old rig is in a mid-tower ATX case, then you can save and re-use that too.You can also save on OS if you could find a friend or family member that has a retail version of the OS you want. The main purpose of this list was to give you the better CPU and GPU.Have fun thumb.gif

What do you think about swapping this for the MSI? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121509&Tpk=BOXDH67GDB
