building a new pc

Thread Starter
anyone recommend a good barebones system available to buy in the uk? or a decent mobo/processor/gpu combo with some upgradeability in the future i could put together?

im considering retiring my current pc as ive changed the processor/mobo/gpu/memory/hdd/psu/sound card/optical drives upto now but its still the same pc obviously!

i dont want to spend an arm and a leg but id like a system that will comfortably play the latest games on a 19" monitor at decent res/framerate with some possibility of oc on the cpu and gpu, i also do some video editing occassionally, but want to keep my costs down as ive a new daughter!!

cheers for any help as i get to spend less time searching on the pc nowadays!!

p.s. ive always liked AMD and ATI, but open to suggestions!

Hi,

Ok, you're in the wrong section it seems.. this is the Laptops/Notebooks section... If a mod sees this, please move!

Not sure if a barebone is the solution; I'd likely get the separate parts myself and build it.

Finally, define a budget... since that varies per person

Currently, the fastest you can get is the Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, and I will start with a budget version of one of those:That'll total £558.07

Not sure if that's cheap enough. I included RAM since the Core 2 Duo platform requires DDR2
