MDPC Sleeve

Hey all,

I'm getting ready to put my order in for some MDCP sleeves and tools, and I was curious if you guys think I'm ordering enough sleeve and heatshrink?

In my cart I have:
40 meters small white
40 meters small black
5 meters sata sleeve white
150 pre-cut heatshrink small white
150 pre-cut heatshrink small black
.7 meter black sata heatshrink

Looks like enough? I have an AX1200, 2 GPUs, 4 sata cables, and all case cables. I may do the fans also if I can teach myself how to solder and not catch myself on fire tongue.gif Or I guess I can individually sleeve them.

I've also never sleeved before so lets all just assume that it won't be a masterpiece the first try, but I am a perfectionist when it comes to this kind of meticulous work. I'm also willing to order more if you guys think that's not enough.

Also picking up the MOLEX pin remover and the Save My Wallet pin remover. Obviously the color scheme is black and white, and I will probably just go every other cable.

|black| |white| |black| |white| and so on...

Well that's all and if you made it to this part...thanks for reading!

Enjoy the MDPC sleeve when it arrives! Nils will give you a very good guide to sleeving. Lutro0 here also has superb tutorials.

Oh, and for sleeving cables white, remember to get white electrical tape for best results. You want to make sure that the underlying cables are white.

Thanks man! I really am looking forward to this. biggrin.gif

I've watched all the Lutro0 vids numerous times and they convinced me that MDPC was the way to go. I was originally going to get some paracord off amazon but decided against it.

+Rep for the white electrical tape suggestion. I wouldn't have thought about that till I had a cable going so you saved me an unexpected trip to hardware store! thumb.gif

Shouldn't take too long. smile.gif It takes about five days to a week for me to receive my package (I'm in the Northeast).

Remember to post pictures!

Will do. I'll do a w/c build log when I get all the stuff in. Just want to get a jump start on the cable sleeving before I get all the other stuff.

Or even better, get the crimping tool from Nils as well and plenty of white AWG18 wire and make your own white cables smile.gif

It's so easy with Nils' instructions. I made 1 bad one, then the rest were good.

I'm looking into doing this, would I just need awg 18 for the PSU/GPUS and awg 22 for the fans?

What are the sata power cables gauge? I could just take my current ones, take the connectors off and re-position them into the correct lengths that I needed right?

The cabling would look so clean if I did it this way so if anyone has some sort of guide for this, that would be awesome. biggrin.gif

EDIT: just checked my email and MDPC has shipped my sleeving. That was quick!
