New build advice - Page 2

i suggested u a 2011 socket cpu so that it does not bottleneck ur future upgrades i meant i know a 2600k @ ~4ghz may handle a 7970 CF but yet to be on a safer side tongue.gif but its ur choice wink.gif:thumb:go ahead with i7 26ook

It is amazing how they are so close together in price.I do get how looking at that $600 CPU price tag makes you do a double take on it.I myself recently built a 2600K,570 SLI rig and it's about the same price as the 2011 rig that Tarun suggested.I am pretty happy with it because i do plan on doing another build using the 2011 platform maybe before the end of this year.Probably by that time that CPU will hopefully come down in price.Ultimately though it is all up to your needs and everyone here on OCN are just happy to suggest other alternatives to other members.Tha't why we're here right biggrin.gif

It is an expensive build though, and if you want to save some money you could get a cheaper Case/PSU combo but man... if you have the money to spend that is going to be one sweet machine.
Yea changed some parts a bit. I really want the case though, I build systems for a small computer store here in Seattle and the 650D has been one of the more impressive cases I've built in. I'm really attracted to the mouse though because of its customization.

Yea, I'll be overclocking more than 4Ghz that's why I'm going with the "water cooling".

It really is though, the $600 chip and I'm only gonna be using 4 cores on my games. I will CF my 7970 in maybe a couple of months or two and I still need to buy a new monitor, so that $200 does make a difference for me :/
