GTX 470 Overclocking

Thread Starter
I'm trying to overclock my PNY 470 Enthusiest card, and it's "ok", but I want it better!

Right now I have it at:
423

When I increase the core clock over 800, I artifact, same with the momory clock. I've seen people hit higher, is something wrong with my card, or am I just out of luck?

Nothing is wrong with your card, there is just good batches and better batches (and bad batches...)

It's advertised to run at the speed it comes at, you've seemingly got it a fair bit higher... You probably just hit your wall unless you get better cooling.

Lower that memory clock. DAMN. You may get a higher core clock if you lower the memory.

Raises the speed of the memory, but you've got a 1000MHz overclock on there, That is WAY too high. Lower it to about 1500MHz and try raising the core.

1000MHz? It's only about 120! When I click reset it goes back to 1674 MHz, default. But i've lowered it back to 1674, and trying to raise the core clock, working out well!

Default is 1675.
White Fire does have a point though. A lot of people have found that the core speed will overclock higher without a lot of memory overclock.
I'd take it back to 1725, look for artifacts and then start taking the core speed up. Memory OC's won't gain you that much on a 470 anyhow.
Otherwise, that clock to voltage ratio is about where most of the 470's fall. My ASUS 470 will hit 815 on the core at 1.037 but my Zotac takes a lot more voltage to hit 800MHz even.

Alright, i've hit another wall.

830 Core clock, 1660 Shader clock, and 1700 memory clock. Which gives more FPS, Core clock or memory?
