Computer freeze, display driver crash, no bsod

Hey guys. I have been having problems with my new build. It is not overclocked, just stock everything. Everything seemed to be running fine up until I purchased a 7970. I installed it and immediately had problems. I use pciex16 slot 3 in order to leave room for my ram coolers. It worked great on my 5870, but I had to install 7970 in slot 1 just to get the screen to show up. I just figured it needed drivers and all.
Installed its drivers and kept getting "Display driver has crashed and recovered" repeatedly. I read that it may be the power supply, so I just put a brand new corsair 1200w in. Same issue. I ran memtest, MRI 5.6 from geeksquad, and couldn't find anything wrong with the mb, cpu, or ram. I reinstalled windows 3 times. I rolled back drivers. Ran driver sweeper. Registry cleanup. You name it, I have probably tried it.

Please. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Reset all the settings your motherboard BIOS. If that doesn't work, try updating it.

EDIT: You should also try installing an alternative OS alongside Windows, just to see what happens. I used the Windows 8 dev preview when I was going through BSOD hell, it helps you figure out if it's a hardware or software problem.
