Good luck

I'm thinking of returning my new set, selling my old set, and then buying 2x4GB of RAM instead. Life's been a little crazy, so I'm going for what's easy right now.

Thats why the asus rep on [h] forums recommends 1.25v vccio for 4 dimms right then? sigh...rolleyes.gif

I know my 2600k refuses to run at above 4.5GHz with 4 DIMMS no matter what voltage I use.
It might just be that the IMC doesnt do well at high overclocks when its asked to handle more than 2 sticks.

Well you go ahead and run your high-ass voltage and see how your chip fares in the long run. Im starting to get tired of sarcastic comments from people that offer no real contribution but have some snide comment that adds nothing to the guy's problem. The chip already is picky at more than 2 dimms, ask most people here of their experience Im sure it will be in line with that. Coupled with going automatically to the highest reeccommended voltage for 4 dimms....not the best choice.

Is that why I can run 4 dimms of 1600 overclocked to 1866 with 1.16 vccio?

sigh....rolleyes.gif

Yeah, repeating what an ASUS rep told me about running 4 dimms is clearly just being sarcastic and unhelpful. Clearly not the best choice to relay a qualified professional's opinion... Anyway back OT, were you able to pass IBT with a different set of settings?

No. Tried all that stuff. Memtest came back ok. I'm not willing to sacrifice my overclock (I want to go higher too), so I'm going to return these sticks and get a set of 8GB ones once they go back on sale.

Thanks everyone for their help!

I have a very low oc of 3.6Ghz on my 2.8Ghz i5 760. Filling all the slots w/ 4GB modules seems to create all kinds of chaos in IBT. So far I've upped the VDIMM to 1.4V from the 1.35V on the label. I can't recall the IMC, but IIRC, it's past 1.25V...

I've tried some of the Corsair Vengeance 1.35V 1600Mhz CL9 white sticks and some Mushkin 1.5V 1600Mhz CL8's. The Samsung UDIMM's will be here on Saturday for my last try w/ 4 DIMMs. If that doesn't work, I'll try these:

I've tried unsuccessfully to pair 4 of the same Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB kits so far. I'm probably too hung up on 1.35V ram, lol. Miss my Eco's!!!! What I wouldn't give for a 2x8GB ECO 1600Mhz CL7 1.35V of low profile lovin'!!!!! thumb.gifthumb.gifthumb.gifthumb.gif
