I have an eVGA 7900GTX and there is no game it can't play maxed out at very good performance, but they are not very overclockable but as I said, it is already so fast that it is a non-issue, you may get luckier than my but my core is only stable up to 690MHz up from 650MHz stock and my memory is good for about 100MHz (DDR) above stock without artifacts. I'm using the powerful stock cooler on mine.

What are artifacts?
little dots or specks that appear on your screen indicating that your pushing your video card too hard. Happens when temps and/or your overclock is too high.

Artifacts are caused from instability and they can look like anything. On my 7800GT, they look like crazy textures that shoot across the screen or sometimes like litttle yellow dots everywhere. But it's caused from heat or having you video card oc'd to high.

I would go with the 7950GT from EVGA because of the 90-day step up period which might come in handy when buying a DX10 video card
post #10 of 14
newegg has the eVGA 7950GT at $294.00 if you overclock it, add a Zalman cooler another $35.00 total $349.00 And the eVGA 7900GTX is at $399.00 and -$25.00 rebate brings you down to $374.00 There is only a $66.00 and you get way more on the GTX. But I think if you do go the 7900GTX route try to OC that CPU of yours to get the most out of video card.
