Just another question on fans... - Page 3

After giving it some thought, going to stick with my Rosewills..

If anyone is interested in 4 practically brand new Yate Loons, D12SM-12s, send me a PM.
I wish I could post this deal on the marketplace, but not hitting 35REPs yet.

I like the color of the Rosewills more than the plain blacks on the Yates..

GPU was, and I'm mainly focusing on my GPU temps.
However, note that I don't have a fan directly on the GPU, just one fan in the intake before the GPU (roughly 7inches away), which also serves as the primarily intake for the overall rig.

Moreover, I also dig the blue LED fans on top exhaust and the front exhaust. Just adds that 'spark'

Noctua is the best overall (imo), but very expensive.
Haven't tried the Gentles, but hear great things.

For the sake of heading off bad info, your opinion re: Noctua fans does not jive with reality. They are decent fans, yes, but they are not the best overall at anything. Noiseblocker Multiframes beat them pound for pound at equal RPMs in both noise and air flow, and Gentle Typhoons dominate them (and almost all 120x25mm fans) in the static pressure / dBA. Commercial fans like those from Adda, San Ace, etc., will also be better overall. But from a purely sound-based standpoint, there are a few fans definitively better than the Noctua fans. The biggies are the Gentle Typhoons, Noiseblocker Multiframes, and San Ace Silents.

The NF-F12 is a bit of a wild card. It supposedly performs identically to the new P12, but has better static pressure. I'm very curious to see if it will do better in the static pressure / dBA ratio because of this.

I only keep commenting because you keep beating the drum of their silence: Cougar Vortex fans are not silent. Least of all at full speed. Nobody who has compared them to known quiet fans compares them favorably. I get that you like your fans but offer context so that someone doesn't blindly accept advise when a better widget exists for their uses.
