Is the steelseries 6gv2 a good keyboard? Its a Cherry Black Switch type. What kind of game goes best with the keyboard? Like RPG, FPS etc. Thanks.

Do you like a heavy switch? Do you like cherry stabilizers? if yes then yes it's a good board. I find that a switch it's necessarily 's better for one type of gaming then others, it's all preference.

I have a friend who has the same keyboard and although he likes it a lot I see that after roughly 6 months or the printing on the keys is starting to wear of on it. I looked it up and it seems to me a pretty common problem with the 6gv2 as well as the 7g. I would hate it if that happened to me, and if a key just broke off I would be even more pissed.

Anyway I think your best option for getting a keyboard is to look at the tank guys here on OCN and get a ducky. If you live in Canada shipping can be a little excessive but for a Ducky it would be worth it.

Its basically like typing in mashed potatoes. Its decent for FPS, but you pretty much have to bottom out the keys since there's no tactile feedback or click to let you know when the key activates. I had one but returned it and stuck with my SidewinderX4 because if you have to bottom out the keys then its better to go for something with less travel time. Also because the black paint started smearing over the white lettering on the key caps hours after I got it.

Also it uses the fat enter key and rearranges some of the keys on the right. If you do any kind of programming it will piss you off to no end.

yeah i was pretty pissed when it broke, i thought at first the key just got lose when i flipped it over to the broken cheap plasic.. anger! smile.gif sad but i just took one my number pad 4 key, and put it in the place of the broken f key.. how ghetto is that smile.gif technically its still under warrently.. so see what their support says.. but gotta pay to ship it back to them.. over one damn key. maybe they can just mail me a 'F' key.
das keyboards are pretty easy to buy here in canada, and of course cheap razor brand.. which i stay clear of. ive had a few of their mouses and the scroll wheel sqeek drove me insane! my wasd keys are worn a bit i can still see the letters.. just glossy looking compared to all other keys from wear vs matte black original color

it's a solid keyboard overall, but the flimsy keycaps are definitely annoying as hell.

Ya I almost did buy a Das, but I didn't because of the glossy coating. I ended up getting a black widow though which even though has the same king of glossy finger print magnet coating was about 50 or 60$ cheaper as an open box deal.

Personally I love blues since I do a lot of typing for school. I can see how blacks would be better for FPS, but blues are great for virtually every other type of game. Try raiding in wow or playing starcraft 2 using the hotkeys with a blue switch keyboard. Hearing and feeling the switch makes it such an exciting experience.

The only minor problem I have with blues in FPS games like BF3 is that sometimes I will hold down one of my movement keys and not realize it, so I have to let it un-actuate and then press it back down again. But this is just because the actuation point is at the halfway point, it doesn't take long to get used to it.

I want to try brown and reds eventually though.
