OK, i heard that vista is gonna be running DX10, i also heard that all the cards available dont support DX10 (dunno about the truth in this)

I want to go to Vista but whats the point if to im gonna need new cards, also i heard that it wont be supporting older games, is this so?

You cant run DX10 on a DX9 Card (current cards). That is truth. I wouldn't go vista till they get some patches done after release. You have tons of time

Vista will work on DX9 cards, even DX10 games will run just fine on DX9 hardware because they emulate DX10, if you download the Vista RC1 you are running in DX10 even though you obviously don't have DX10 hardware.

Chopes, you are mistaken. Not only does DirectX10 have built in emulation, some developers like Crytek who are a bit better at coding than Microsoft have developed their own emulation software that comes built into their games allowing you to run DX10 games on DX9 hardware.

in addition many early Vista games will come in DirectX9 with patches to allow DX10 support.

Doesn't certain features of vista like aero require dx10? Didn't know that they built it into their games

Nah for aero all you need is a dx9 card with 128mb of ram and shader 2.0 support.

yeah It would show how crappy our games are now if a windows theme required DX10 + unfied shaders + dual core CPUS. Finally M$ is bringing the WOW factor to a product... LOL

And its cool that theres the emulator for DX10, but wont it run some what under real DX10? N64 emulators run fine, but the sound isnt up to par, and text is screwed up.. Hope Vista is worth it.
