what 's wrong - Page 2

I have the same ram. There should be a profile on the ram to make it run at 1600Mhz.

May be a bit different as I got a kit and not 2 single sticks though.

When I look at the ram settings in my bios(uefi), I can activate an XMP profile to make the ram run at 1600Mhz. You can look at my "gamer" rig in my sig to see if you have the exact same ram or not.

I'm not sure that getting the 2 sticks in a kit really matters, but it could. Could someone post on this?

Yes it does make a difference if you buy ONE, matched tested RAM kit or individual DIMMs or multiple DIMM kits.

Corsair specifically advises that individual DIMMs or mixing of twe RAM kits such as two 2x 4GB. kits for a total of FOUR DIMMs is NOT guaranteed to function at the advertised frequency or latencies of the single DIMM or single RAM kit. Mixing even of the same RAM Kits may require slower frequencies and higher latencies just to get them to work at all.

Getting a single RAM kit of 4 DIMMs over 2x of 2 DIMMs usually guarantees same ICs throughout.  That does not explicitly mean that they should immediately not work if they do not have the same voltage, speed and timings rating - and you should not be spending a large premium for this IC guarantee.  Most of the time there is a rather large price premium that might just end up making no sense anyway.  My 2x 2x2GB G.Skill ECOs (June 2009 and August 2009 respectively, when they were nearly as cheap as generic RAM kits) were each purchased separately.

Actually some of the (4) DIMM kits are cheaper than two kits of (2) DIMMs.

See Corsair's website for specific information on using multiple RAM kits/DIMMs vs. purchasing one, mached tested RAM kit and you'll see that what I posted is correct.
