Need help (WC setup)

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter
So I ordered the CaseLabs M8 case last week (with the extended 85mm top [obviously ventilated]). My setup is as follows
3x 7970 WCed (Also ordered the backplates)
Asus Rampage IV Formula (I originally got 4 bad Extreme so figured maybe i'd get lucky with a Formula but nope lol...going to get a working board hopefully directly from Asus)
i7 3930k WCed
PA 120.3 Radiator (thick bad boy)
??? Triple 120mm radiator (still in the process on debating what to pair up with that 120.3
XSPC Dual 5.25" Bay Reservoir - w/ Alphacool VPP655 Variable Speed Pump Installed
PrimoChill PrimoFlex PRO LRT Tubing 1/2"ID 3/4"OD with 1/8" Wall - White

Will that single pump suffice? I had an old Swiftech 655 Revision B. Do you think that it would be better if I include that in the loop, or is one pump fine?

I plan to have both radiators at the top as exhaust (I rather keep warm air outside of the case that way the ambient temperature will be lower. I'll also figure out where to put intake fans)
Due to the case having a motherboard slide out tray, I plan to buy some quick disconnects. Does anyone have experience with those? I've never used them. I saw at frozencpu that they sold female and male pieces separately, does anyone know why? [$15-18 per male/female part]

Also is it vital that I have the CPU outlet connect to the inlet of one of the radiators then that radiator's outlet connects to the GPUs?
Like as follows

Pump/Reservoir -->CPU-->??? Triple 120mm radiator--->GPU-->PA 120.3-->Pump/Reservoir (REALLY expensive for quick disconnects)
Or can it be
Pump/Reservoir--/quick DC/>CPU-->GPU-/quick DC/->120.3 radiator--->Triple 120 ???-->pump reservoir
or
Pump/Reservoir-->??? triple 120--/quick DC/->CPU-->GPU-/quick DC/->120.3 radiator-->pump/res

Sorry for the bad grammar (4:30am)

Going CPU to GPU, adding a radiator between them is going to make VERY little difference, less than 1C water temps. 3x 7970 is going to raise the water temp ~3C after them, which is a high enough difference you probably wouldn't want to dump the GPU's straight into the CPU, but not high enough to make a loop useless if you did so. The basic rule of thumb is loop order doesn't matter, even in the worst situations you're looking at ~4C difference in water temps, and in most cases far less. Do whatever setup is easiest for you, it will perform just fine.
