a8n-sli or a8n-e

Thread Starter
im not going to be using 2 graphic cards
the a8n-sli is 18dollars more. is it 18 dollars more because of the SLI feature or are there other features that make the board better than the a8n-e?

on the specs..the only difference i see is that the a8n-sli has onboard 1394 (i dont even know what that is) and obviously the north bridge.

does the a8n-sli support an athlon 64 x2 better than a a8n-e or something?

Thx!

They are almost the same exact motherboard, except the A8N-SLI has... well, SLI. There is no "better" X2 support. If you get the A8N-E and it doesn't support the X2, you could always update the BIOS. That would solve your problem.

EDIT - 1394 is Firewire.

Well I would pick the SLi board just because it's a good upgrade path, but updating a BIOS is easy. Follow the instructions and it's pretty hard to mess up. I always do it with a floppy because its a lot simpler (and safer) than using a flashing utility.

As you said above FlaKing, their both the same board, it's just the A8N-SLI does SLI and the A8N-E don't.

The A8N-E has a nForce4-Ultra chipset and the A8N-SLI has a nForce4-SLI lol.
