Should i go for full tower or mid tower?

Hi,

I want to be a folder, and perhaps contribute to other projects such as seti@home using BOINC. This would be a 24/7 running build with two graphics cards eventually. However I just don't know if i should be aiming for a full tower case or a mid tower.

I live in Shanghai, China. We have newegg here, it is possible to get a HAF X or a HAF 912 advanced.

But is something like the 912 advanced case a tad too small? I've never seen one in person, and to me it looks like a very tight fit to put everything in one of them. I would be air cooling (no corsair H100 avaliable here: only the H50).

HAF 912 Asia version

But the HAF X seems like a monstrosity and I've read there might be some quality control issues with it. The main things I want out of a case are:

A) Room for future upgrades such as extra gfx cards
B) Has excellent cooling so i can overclock everything on air and run it stable 24/7 at 100% cpu and gpu utilisation.
C) Dust! You have no idea how filthy the air is in China, the amount of dust is just incredible, so all air intakes need to be filtered.

Just to complete the picture, it'll be a Z68 or P67 mobo (no idea which yet) and core i5 2500k, for gfx card mostly like the GTX560 ti unless someone tells me something better is about to come out to win the price/performance crown. I won't be buying a monitor for it even (it'll be headless machine).

It's also my first desktop build ever (i haven't even owned a desktop for like 6 years), so apologies if I ask stupid questions.

Thanks for advice.

Your build is amazing. Haven't seen that kind of case before, but doubt I can find it here in my locale.

CM690II. Good airflow. Plenty of room. I have 4 hard drive's, i5 2500k, Silver Arrow with two 120x38mm san ace's on it, cd drive, fan controller, retarded huge 6950 Toxic (270mm long) with a fan hanging off the back of the hard drive cage. I could make another 25mm of space by removing it. Could house two large cards with ease. Also have a Z68 board.

On top of that, you can also fit a full water loop in it pretty easy. People have 2 240 rads and a signle 120mm rad all stuffed inside of them(about to be me too soon!). So I would check it out. it's a mid case that thinks its a full tower:) cheap too!

if you can get fractal design cases in china, check the fractal design r3 or the define xl. plenty of room for expansion and filters on every in take just have the fan holes that arent filtered as exhausts. im using a the fd r3 and its got plenty of room for a mid case. 8x hdd bays 2 cd-rom bays and im overclocking mine of just air to 4ghz. i would suggest it but its up to you man smile.gif hope i helped. oh and btw its cheap.

It's good but a common complaint about it is the LED fans being too bright white.
