Most schools block alot of things.

Worked during the beta. Worked long enough for me to play until whatever update happened around Thanksgiving.

All i can say is this:
1. you are using a school's internet, and again, most (if not all) schools have some sort of Web filter in place.
2. you've tried all fixes that apply to your end (your computer) and none have worked.

coming from an IT background i see no other reason you wouldn't be able to play if you've already tried everything.
My guess is that the use of bandwidth from the students there from that update prompted your school's IT department to figure out where it came from, then they blocked the ports that PB uses to make it so students wouldn't be able to play the game.

PunkBuster has successfully stopped me from playing BF3 since the B2K update, so no, in my experience, it's not fixed frown.gif

Get a different anti-cheat program please?

those DLCs, while purchased separately, were downloaded by steam(dirt) or the game itself (bc2). With BF3 the updates/DlC are distributed by Origin, which is against Steams Licensing agreement.
Crysis 2 was removed from Steam because its DLC was somehow different then BC2

Steam didn't download Dirt's DLC, Windows Live did.

How is it being distributed through Origin against Steam's agreement? BC2 and Vietnam have both been sold on D2D/Gamefly since release. Didn't see those titles removed. It's obvious ( to me at least) that EA willingly removed Crysis 2/Dragon Age from Steam themselves rather than Valve. Bit of a coincidence that they were allowed on Steam in the first place and then they were removed right around the time Origin first launched.

Pretty sure Borderlands with all DLC is also on Gamefly. I can probably nitpick and find a few more games that have been offered both on Steam and other digital distributors, as well as the DLC for those titles. Red Orchestra, Red Faction 1+2. I have a little over 100 games on my Steam list that I can go through and I'm sure more than a handful are also available on D2D/other mediums. What I'm trying to get at is: that isn't the problem. Obviously Valve has no problem with that as they have little reason to pick and choose which games to allow such DLC options and treat other publishers differently.

I think VAC would have been better than PB though had EA not been morons about putting BF3 on Steam.

VAC is lame. People can still hack. Vac only catches DDL files and does a two week delay ban. Seriously we're better off instant bans from PB.

I just set my BF3 server up for Punkbuster ban streams from GGC, which is a nice feature. VAC does that automatically, PB takes a little work to get it working that way. I've experienced less cheaters on VAC overall versus PB. Games I've played that use PB include America's Army, Call of Duty, Battlefield, don't remember if Tribes used PB.

Which Call of Duty were you talking about? The ones with NO dedicated servers? You're jerking our leg. There's tons of players that bypass VAC so easily. Trust me i seen cheaters there. Punkbuster scans everything but i don't know how they bypass that from time to time but VAC. It only scans for DLL files.

PB still 100 times better than VAC
