I don't know if im doing anything wrong, but I've even mounted a fan right above the mosfet cooler.
Just some information that might help you.

I'd try reseating the mosfet heatsink. it shouldnt be that hot at that voltage. Also make sure you have some sort of air blowing over them

There's no question the CHV is a better board, but for 95% of the features and equal performance you can pay $35 less for the sabertooth.

Yes, I agree that there's a lot of stuff on the CH5F that's a tad gimmicky and perhaps unnecessary BUT (and this depends on your personal finances) I would take the CH5F over the sabertooth if the difference is 'only' $35 . See my first post: CH5F has Intel LAN-chip and Realtek ALC889 audio chip (both of which are better than the sabertooth's solutions). That alone would be worth $ 35 for me.

In terms of gadgets and overclocking: Better too much than too little IMHO ^^ . I used ROG connect, not a dealbreaker but fun to have nonetheless. CLR-CMOS switch on the back, always a big plus in my book.
I don't doubt the sabertooth is a solid board which will satisifie the OP but the CH5F just has it all (the looks, the features, the 'epeen' if you care about that rolleyes.gif ) and that's why I bought it. I knew I bought a board which had everything I needed and everything I might ever need.

You won't likely be able to overclock it to 5.0ghz with a H100. You'd need the H100 in push/pull with some very loud (unbearable ones to say the least) fans and cold air intake.
4.8-4.9ghz for a 8120 using a H100 feels kind of borderline temperature wise. If you aim for 5.0ghz stable and cold, get a custom water loop or buy a house in the mountains.
Mine will take 4.9ghz@1.525V (up to 1.54V on load with LLC on auto) and temps go up to 61° (H100 with 4 Scythe GT AP-14). The one I build for a friend took 4.7ghz@1.48125V with the H100 and its two original noisy fans) without too much hassle. It would likely take 4.8ghz@1.49V with other fans.
You don't want mid 60°s temperatures because the chip will start throttling (no matter what settings you use in the bios) with the multiplier going down to x7 until temps reach 40°.
Crosshair V is definitely the flagship motherboard for Bulldozers. Get a nice power supply if you want to push a bulldozer to the edge, those chips are hungry !

I have 4 fans on a push pull setup and nosie isent a problem with the amount of hearing loss I have and as load as I crank my music its not a problem as long as the temps stay down, lol Im not going with the bulldozer I sticking with my 1090T

in light of the "not being able to pick cores" thing..I vote for ch5

..that really did aggravate me

CHV gets my vote! thumb.gif AND, it'll get my money next payday lol, I'm rocking a CHIV right now and I've been able to OC my old 1090t to 4.2GHz 24/7 stable, and my 8150 to 4.5GHz stable.... I had to update my bios to 3027 for Bumdozer support and I lost alot of options, so CHV here I come bike.gif

the 990FXA-UD7 rev1.0 was bugged and occurate severe Vdrops ,to fix that gigabyte have stop the production of the rev1.0 and have gone for a revisted v1.1 with load line calibration option introduction, replacement of a resistor and the add of some circuits

for thoses who also have a v1.0 they propose to customer a hard mod consisting to replace a resistor, but if u do this it voids the warranty, i heared several users have toasted their mobos while trying to do it +.+

no luck for me ,even after telling to my reseller that i wanted to buy this one BUT ONLY if it was a rev1.1 they sended to me a rev1.0...and the VDrops were tremendous....as expected, u need to imput scaring voltage to get decent oc results and it was constantly doing up & downs
Buying this mobo if u re not sure to get your hands on a rev1.1 is just suicidal, especially if u watch the price...rolleyes.gif

shame because it was superb , probably the more eyecandy 990 board wink.gif

for the story i also tryed a MSI 990FXA-GD80, and it was as stabble for oc as the CHV, but i had some problems to get a pair of GTX285GTX working in SLI on it, tbh i encountered the exact same probs with the CHV ...but not with the UD7.....i solded them and use a more classical 6950 now (after testing np to run 2 of em in CF)

i hope this can help

i also own the crosshairs v, with fx-6100 i experience alot of the issues related to ai suite and rog,cpu-z. the fluctuations drive me crazy. i cant seen to get a decent stable over clock. temps dont seem to be a issue. like when i go to play battlefield3 i try a few diffrent overclock profiles. but it doesnt run right. i get disconnets, lag all types of stuff. but when i set it back to default alls well. game runs smooth. So my point is this if the game is running smooth on default why not on what seems to be a stable over clock. im getting frustrated:mad:. does anyone have any suggestion?. i really want to see what this thing can do. but all the options make me crazy.
